Not great but economical

Posted Aug 28, 2014
Pros: You can park close to the room making it easy to unload.
Cons: Air conditioner - too loud and does not reach loft.
Location: The location is a little far from Durango - can’t walk to nearby shops and convenience stores.
The hotel is a little old. bathroom is old and small. Loft room is a little hot. Air conditioner is loud. The pool is nice and clean. I like the fact that you can park your car close to the room so it is easier to unload a traveling family. Vending machine didnt work.

It was clean and if you're into the steam train the Durango Silverton it actually goes right behind the hotel rooms and that was why we stayed there

Disappointment with the Iron Horse.

Posted Jul 7, 2014
I was very disappointed that they refused to give me a receipt. I needed a receipt because I was on a business trip. I need that for reimbursement. I won't make anymore reservations through Expedia if this is corporate policy. The person that told me this was working the morning of the 30th. He was in his late 20's. I had no cable guide or privacy sign. The internet was only available in the lobby. That is not acceptable in this day and age. I will be staying at the comfort inn my next business trip to Durango, Colorado.

NEVER STAY HERE

Posted Jul 2, 2014
Pros: nothing
Cons: Change management
Location: Durango Colorado is a wonderful town with plenty to do from rafting, riding the historic train, shopping and dining in Downtown, skiing, biking, etc.
My daughter and I were completing a 2300 mile 4 day college tour at Ft. Lewis College on 06/26/2014. We had called the hotel as required on the reservation to inform them of our late arrival, around 1am. They said there would be a note on the door with a phone number to call for check-in and when we arrived after 7 hours driving, there was no number to call. The town of Durango, Co was completely booked giving us no options. We were lucky to finally find a hotel room at 2:30am. Our other option was to sleep in the car. I had to pay 1.5 times the rate when we finally found a room and the manager at the hotel said he did not have the power to make it right. This is a lousy business, a bad management team and I would encourage you spend your money elsewhere.

Close to town

Pros: Having one bed on the main floor and the other upstairs was a nice feature,
Cons: Please get new mattresses
Location: Durango is very fun and a great town to hang out in. They had a nice Saturday market while we were there.
Enjoyed the layout of the room. The beds were very uncomfortable for two to sleep in with the mattress being so worn out. Continental breakfast was typical. The waffles were nice but it would have been nice to have yogurt or boiled eggs. Looked like there was a cigarette burn on the tub and the faucet leaked making drip sounds constantly. I would only recommend this hotel to a friend I knew well that I could tell them what to expect.

Great place to relax.

Pros: Clean and safe great views.
Cons: outside needs to be worked on.
Location: relax and watch nature the pool and arcade.
I was not sure when I first went looking for the Inn and it is a little out of town but it right out of town. After speaking with the staff felt great lot of people there all friendly and courteous. The room only had one television and the staff moved us right away to a room that we booked. the Staff was awesome and the young man that checked us in was awesome. I will be going back the next time I'm in town!

Very cool view and awesome playground for kids!!!!

Posted Jul 30, 2013
Pros: Two floors, nice comfy beds!
Cons: The cleanliness, breakfast, interior of each room it's a little outdated
Location: Great location outside of durango and get beautiful views
The hotel was just nice...... The staff first gave us a room that was dirty like beds unmade dirty!! But when we went to the lobby they apologized and gave us a different room which was clean although it was a smoking room and we wanted non smoking. But other than that the kids got to watch the train go past our room and blow the horn so what makes them happy makes me happy too!! Plus our room had an upstairs bedroom which was nice to have the kids up there and me and the hubs downstairs.

Not that great - 0ld and tired

Posted Jul 29, 2013
The room was old and tired, but clean. The air conditioner worked, but had a hard time cooling the second level. Long hot night waiting for the upstairs bed room to cool down. Lots of Live In type guests that appear to live there, mixed with family guest. Strange mix but ended up OK. Free Breakfast is really basic, don't expect a lot.Just coffee and muffins and toast and cereal. Not a bad place, seemed safe enough, but not great either. Did have refrigerator and microwave which was nice and both worked well. Only stayed one night, would not want to have stayed longer. Fine if you are passing through town.
