Good location, but noisy

Posted Feb 28, 2014
Pros: Location, close to restaurants and shopping
Cons: Cosmetic improvements,
Room was clean, pool was nice. Hotel was right on main road so it was noisy. Could have used some updating, but was close to shopping and restaurants. Looked like it was under new ownership so maybe improvements are on the way?

Stayed two nights

Posted Feb 8, 2014
Picked this hotel due to location and price. It is an older property that although it is clean needs upgrading. OK for overnight stay. Unable to get shower to work properly. No plug if bathroom although hair drier provided. Don't choose this hotel if you are a smoker. Adamant about not smoking policy.

A step back in time

Posted Feb 5, 2014
Pros: The staff, free WiFi, the bar and the pool.
Cons: New windows that reduce the outside noise.
Location: Dinner at the Pilot House with the glass bottom bar is fun. It is about an hour to go on an airboat ride in the Everglades.
I stayed at the Key Largo Inn for three nights. It is an old building with the quirks of an old building, but it is evident the staff is working to keep it pleasant. The staff was friendly and accommodating. There is free WiFi and a free light continental breakfast. In the evening you can enjoy a drink in the Breakfast Room/Bar or by the pool. The room was clean with coffee pot, hair dryer, TV and WiFi and working A/C. If you required luxury and pampering, this is not the place for you, but if you need a clean room at a fair price and friendly staff this place will work. I had to extend my stay due to weather conditions in Georgia and did so without any problems.

The Bates Motel?

Posted Jan 17, 2014
Pros: The price was reasonable
Cons: Get rid of the mold and do basic maintenance- replace the old TV
Location: Good location. Near shopping and the state park.
This was a one night stay before an extended houseboat vacation in key largo. We wanted a room for a night to prepare for our vacation. We arrived and there was a note on the door that they were closed and would return shortly- at about 12 noon. This was a red flag. We returned later and checked in. The staff was friendly. The room was a typical size. The facility is old and run down. being old is not a problem, but the maintenance is minimal. The bathroom had mold on the ceiling tile and in the medicine cabinet. The receptacles were not grounded. I only mention this because it is a simple thing to change at a low cost. The room was noisy because of the proximity to the highway. The window in the bathroom didn't open. The ceiling tiles were old and mismatched. The TV was an old tiny tube type. Very limited channel selection. I didn't expect a great room for the price, but was disappointed in the condition of the room when many small things that would cost very little to correct have been ignored. My wife said that the room brought back memories of the Norman bates Motel from the movie. Kind of creepy.
