Was told by staff they are closing in May. They should! Really worn down wreck. There was a joining room to ours but the lock on the door didn't work so there was a kitchen table pushed against it. Scary.. Construction next door . Wicked loud!

location is all they have going for them now

Posted Feb 23, 2015
Pros: location to beach and activities
Cons: that list, I'm afraid, would be longer than 119 characters here!
Location: shopping beach eating dancing walking. lots nearby
hotel has gone downhill since last year. Our room was not clean. Kitchen unkept and not equipped. towels are like sandpaper. staff was friendly but not overly accommodating at front desk. We listened to fights every night outside-some lasting hours. Male bartender was great! Pool area is nice. Location to beach and all entertainment is great. We heard they were tearing the place down in April which is OK as we probably would not stay there again.

Bed bugs, not sanitary DO NOT go this dumpy motel!

We booked this through expedia and arrived at 2am. Even at that hour we could see it was an unsafe place & changed hotels in the middle of the night. I wondered how many crimes were there. I have never been to a Mexican jail but it resembled what I would imagine. The window curtain was permanently bent so people could look in ... and the kitchenette is actually a microwave on a dirty dusty bureau. Floors are dirty tile and walls rough concrete stucco ... dirty looking beds ... bathroom was too repulsive to express on words. I didn't think places like that were in Fort Lauderdale. Not safe. Unhealthy. Need I say more? Expedia assisted us in booking our room at a nice clean beach hotel. Awful experience at tropic cay.

Can't be torn down too soon

Posted Feb 20, 2015
Pros: Nothing
Cons: Not to worry. Should be torn down before the year's end.
Location: okay location
Moved out of unacceptable Knight's Inn into unacceptable Tropic Cay. Stayed only one night because there was nothing else available for twice the price.

The area is wonderful hotel is not!

Posted Feb 16, 2015
Pros: Nothing other than it was close to the beach.
Cons: Everything. This place is so run down. I have never stayed in a place so awful.
Location: Shops, restuarants, bars, live music and much more.
The beach is beautiful and the boulevard was a lot of fun with so much to do. The Tropic Cay was not a good experience. Never stay in such a run down, nasty place with bugs that greeted me nightly in the bathroom and kitchen. Had to buy a can of bug spray.

Outdated, unsafe, unclean

Posted Feb 16, 2015
Pros: Nothing.
Location: anything nearby is better than staying at the hotel.
The photos of this hotel are at least 20 years old. The room doors did not close properly, the safety latch had to be engaged to keep them closed. The 'kitchenette' I would not use to make cereal in. The cleaners had obviously done their best, as the room was 'clean', but the walls were stained, the bathroom fixtures worn out, the water pressure nil, the bathroom door didn't close in one room. The checkin, despite the fact we were reserved and prepaid through Expedia, took 25 minutes, with an utterly disinterested front desk clerk.

Inexpensive, clean enough, friendly enough,

You get what you pay for, good location, friendly people, I'd go back when price is an issue.
