Steer clear

Posted May 29, 2013 on Hotels.com
This place was a huge mystery. The room was fairly nice and clean, although the bed was awful and I am still trying to lose the back pain from the weekend. But the area in general is subpar. There is little to do out there unless you will be out on a boat or golf. And as far as food options, good luck. This facility is called a "resort" yet the on site food options are embarrassing. We were told we had to have reservations and that the kitchen couldn't even handle to go orders. So we came back an hour and a half later to a pretty empty place and the most generic food you could imagine. Clearly pre-packaged or frozen food that was just so so. They give you the impression that it would be an exclusive experience but was just the opposite. You will do better to take your dollars elsewhere.

Excellent location - Not-so-good service

Posted Mar 17, 2013 on Hotels.com
Check-in took between 15 to 20 minutes even though I was the only one waiting. The food in the restaurant its "ok", not great but they take "hours" to serve you. After an incident at breakfast, I decided to cut short my stay and leave one day early. Basically I spent 15 minutes sitting on my table and nobody came to even offer coffee. The hotel location its great and the views are awesome. I would recommend to bring your own food and don't use the restaurant.

Love the view!

Pros: Location, View, Cleanlness, Quiet
Cons: The shower issues
Location: There is only one place to eat on property and the food is decent. If you would like other options you will need to drive to Graham (30 mins away)
The Cliffs Resort was a very nice place at a reasonable price... The only issues we had were with the shower. The drain was really slow and we were ankle deep in water by the end of the shower. Also, there wasn't a proper shower curtain which led to water all over the floor... These issues were minor and I would certainly like to go back one day.

Great location that combines tranquility (pool, spa, beach) and outdoor activities (golf, boating, waterskiing, etc...).

Great Location, Bad Food, Expensive

Posted Sep 9, 2009 on Hotels.com
Positive... This resort has a great location and convenient amenities from the amazing 4 1/2 star golf course to the convenient location of the lake and the pool and spa. Negative... Unfortunatley the restaurant at the resort is really the only place within miles to eat and they know it. The food is overpriced. The breakfast buffet reminded me of something you would get at a continental breakfast and had I been smart to ask about price before eating, I would have not eaten it. Smart on their end not to tell you the price before you start eating. My father had the ribs during lunch and they were cold. The manager asked how are food was and we told him about the ribs and he did nothing about it. The dinner was also overpriced. I had the filet mignon med/rare and it came out about a 1/2 inch thick (which if you have eaten filet mignon before you would know that it should be thicker) and it was more med, medium well than med/rare...that will give you an idea of how the rest of our parties food was. Out of few staff that we interacted with, I would say about 40% of them were happy to be there and it affected my overall satisfaction with the resort. To summarize, again the location and amenities are great. I would recommend the resort to anyone if they like to play golf, have a boat, and enjoy the pool and spa. We stayed at the villas and if I were to go back, I would bring more food as they do have grills, a fridge, and a sink and avoid the restaurant. Hope this has been helpful.

Beautiful Place to Stay

We love the resort - Hotel staff not to great, but the beauty & tranquility of the property & the lake make up for it.
