In a nut shell

Posted Feb 12, 2015
Pros: Almost all of the rooms have an Ocean View.
Cons: The food
We stayed in one of the lower buildings, we were surprised that we got such a great view as we didn't pay the extra $ for one. The rooms are a bit dated (mainly seen in the showers), but we didn't spend much time in the room. The buffet food was awful.. except in the 2 restaurants The resort is small, so you get to know the other guests and the staff (who are all awesome!). The pool was really nice. Actually, all of the common areas were nice. And clean. There isn't much of a nightlife, but Pablo's bar was lively until 11, and Coco beach isn't too far away. It's not the nicest places we've stayed, but it did the job and we really enjoyed ourselves (probably more so than we have at other places we've stayed).

NICE PEOPLE - NOT SO NICE RESORT

Posted Jan 7, 2015
Pros: The view
Cons: The rooms and the food
Location: Nothing to do nearby - you need a car or taxi and this is expensive
For the most part the staff was nice and friendly except for the girl that checked us in. Did not speak much english and not the kind of person you want to meet after a long flight. Food - not the best - we really believe they serve left overs from the day before becuase the menu at the buffet was pretty much the same every day - except for a dish or two. Resort does not have much - a pool - access to the beach but that's it. When I booked the hotel it showed Wiifii - when we got there wiifii was only in the lobby and at the pool but never worked at the pool area.

Great view but hotel rooms needs some updating.

Posted Jan 6, 2015
Pros: The view
Cons: Food and restaurant hours.
Location: Closest thing was coco beach which was 45 minutes away/$60-$80 taxi ride). Everything else had to be with a tour.
I stayed with my husband and we are both 27 years. Stayed for 5 nights for NYE. Great hotel with amazing view of Papagayo bay. Was a bit disappointed with restaurant and bar hours. There was one main buffet restaurant which closed in between meals... which is okay but snack bar had food that was sitting around all day and it was the same hamburgers, hotdogs, nachos, and the occasional pizza. Overall at the buffet food was okay... the special dinners on NYE and New Years day made the stay. The two restaurants (Italian and Mexican) were much better than buffet so I would recommend making reservations early in the morning. Our hotel room's hot water didn't work at times and our phone also didn't work. I would recommend this hotel for anyone on a budget and not looking for something upbeat (i.e. bars/going into town to meet others). My husband and I would rather stay closer to Coco Beach (taxi is about $60-80 from hotel.... 45 minute ride). Hotel is very secluded from everything else and gift shop was overpriced... we paid $30 for sunblock. Also.... the bar did not open until 10AM. Great hotel for families... we felt very safe.

Nice all inclusive

Posted Dec 26, 2014
Pros: Food and service was good.
Cons: Hotel is starting to show its age. Renovations needed to keep up with newer resorts.
Location: Location was a bit far away. Marina was close. Plenty of activities on the beach and for sale on the hotel property.
Room was fine. Everything worked. Room was cleaned everyday. No bugs on the 2nd floor. Room and bathroom aren't fancy. TV worked fine. 5 channels in English with a few others sometimes with programming in English. Close to beach. Food was tasty and fresh. Great stay for the price.

Extended tours from the resort

Posted Nov 30, 2014
The hotel was fine. However the Organization contracted to provide off site tours was not good. The organization was Hotel beds dba destination services. They do not stand behind their tours. They are not honest regarding times and length of tours as well as other interactions when there is something controversial that happens. We were very disappointed in their unwillingness to take responsibility for their actions.

Great resort to stay at for the price

Posted Aug 19, 2014
Pros: The views, the staff, the pool, the food
Cons: Maintenance could be stepped up a bit. The beach area needs to be cleaned, raked daily, and maintained better. The bar hours could be more open.
Location: The location is pretty remote. There is nothing within walking distance. There is a golf course about a mile from the resort gate.
The hotel was well worth what we paid. The food was good. Anyone should be able to find several things to eat off of the 3 buffets each day. The Mexican restaurant was very delicious. The pool was very nice & clean. The beach needed some help. The beach club was a pleasant experience for the partial day, though the food offerings need to be more plentiful. The room was nice enough and housekeeping did an excellent job. The hotel staff was always polite and helpful. The nightly entertainment was alright - the staff does well with what they have. The drinks were cool and tasty but not top shelf, but I didn't pay for top shelf. The location is pretty remote and very very beautiful. The views from the balconies were awesome.
