Hotel close to beach near good restaurants

Posted Sep 5, 2014
Pros: Ease of coming and going
Cons: Room could have been cleaner
Location: On sea front walking distance of shops and local bus into Hartlepool
This was an ideal location as I was following my family routes and using the library in Hartlepool. The manager,Gwenda, was very helpful at the hotel and gave me lots of advice to help me in my quest. It was nice to have a sitting room if you required it. Other guests also made the break intersting.

Hotel with sea view.

Pros: Stayed in room 4 which has a large bay window overlooking the sea, full English breakfast included in the price.
Cons: Found the Hotel to be good value for money.
Location: Walking distance from Hartlepool Marina which has a few bars and restaurants, 30 min drive to Durham, 5 min drive to the football ground.
Stayed for two nights, Hotel run by a very nice helpful couple.

Run down hotel though clean and with nice staff.

Pros: Good breakfast and the room was warm.
Cons: Rather a lot I'm afraid. There was a tub of cigarette stubs by the front door - this could be removed/cleaned every day.
Location: The Hartlepool Marina is good and the beaches are lovely but the view of Hartlepool Power Station and the wind farm in the sea is a bit off putting.
We had a lovely view of the sea from our room but the television didn't work and neither did the shower.

Room had not been cleaned properley in months. eg top of picture rails covered in dust as well as dust behind the bed head & in all corners of the room. Poor water pressure in the shower. Disturbed during the night by other guests at regular intervals. Hotel is in a great location looking out to sea, but needs sprucing up outside to make it more attractive.

Good location

Posted Aug 25, 2013
Pros: It's location
Cons: Overall appearance
Location: The hotel was opposite the sea and families would find it very convenient.
We were attending a wedding at a local hotel and the adjoining hotels where booked up. This was the only available hotel to book. The outside appearance was disappointing could have done with a good clean

Lovely landlady

The lady of the house was lovely, the breakfast was delicious. The building is old, and the decoration had been given a lot of thought. The only down side was the standard of cleanliness. The beds and the dining room were fine, but everywhere else needed a bit of elbow grease.

location great, our bedroom overlooked the sea. only one window opened on one of the hotest days of the year but we were out most of the day so not a big issue. showers were the usual dismal british failure, dribbled out, hot one minute then ran cold, why can't our hotels invest in good showers? breakfast adequate but not huge but hey, it would be enough for a fair few i guess. only other thing is that the dining room is downstairs with no view while the 'guests lounge' overlooks the sea, it seemed to us to be the wrong way around, would have been nice to eat with a view. overall it was clean and tidy but a bit 'jaded'
