Overnight stay for work.Posted Jan 27, 2015
Pros: Price, location, parking, staff, and view.
Cons: Decorations in room and a newer a/c system.
Location: Small store next door with snacks, coffee, and other small necessary items.
Room was a little sparse, but check in was quick, receptionist was pleasant, and room was clean. Bathroom seemed brand new. Room had very little decoration and the a/c vent was a little small, but since its next to Hilo bay sleeping with the window open was a nice change.

Choose another hotelPosted Jan 23, 2015
Pros: It is on the ocean.
Cons: Open the windows, put in carpeting, change the bathroom design and put in wifi for every room.
Location: We went for a conference, and otherwise not much to do in Hilo except drive to the volcano.
In their renovations they have removed all carpet and replaced every thing with tile, so the hallways echo and anyone walking or talking in the hallways resounds in the room, and I vice versa. I kept waking up because people who came in at 2 am made noise and it echoed in the room. The bathrooms are very slippery and the bathtubs are too deep and hard to get into. There is no wifi or internet connection available in the rooms, and you had to into the lobby where there was really no place to sit in order to get internet. Its on the ocean but you can't open the window so you can't hear the sound of the ocean. Not worth the price even if the posted price seems cheap. Staff were nice though.

Island HoppingPosted Jan 22, 2015
Pros: The price!
Location: Uncle Billys is good spot to grab a bite to eat or a beer.
Quick visit to the big Island. Not many rooms for short notice near Hilo. The area is quite pleasing go out of town for deals on groceries or beer.

Cons: Need the renovation to be completed.
Location: We liked the Ponds restaurant which was reasonably close.
The hotel is being renovated. No amenities such as restaurant, bar. Room was ok, clean, but seemed like the '50s.

Ghetto hotel.Posted Jan 14, 2015
Pros: Nothing really. It feels like a hospital or an insane asylum.
Location: Located on Banyan Drive where all the other hotels are. You really have very little choices in Hilo.
Too much to list. Better off spending a little more at Hilo Hawaiian. Once Naniloa is done with renovations then maybe, but I don't see where they get off charging more than $20 a night here.

could not recommend it. not good conditionPosted Jan 14, 2015
Pros: near to good and several places
Cons: almost everything: elevator, wi-fi, curtains, put 1-2 rooms in chair, change the curtains, ...
Location: good shopping and restaurants
I used this hotel for end of year vacations; although the staff is ok, and it's close to good/nic places, i have to say it was quite disappointing due mainly to: elevator conditions: very poor; wi-fi, not good even in lounge; there is no lobby; no chairs in room; curtains are wooden and semi-falling; a/c control was so-so; and some others no need to say here.

Pros: Location,Location, Location
Cons: When renovations are completed--Beautiful .
Location: Ocean-front and close to Hilo town
The hotel is still undergoing renovations but the room I had was very comfortable. The dining room still not in service was inconvinient.

A Work in ProgressPosted Jan 4, 2015
My short (one night) stay at the hotel was begun on a high note… the desk clerk was personable and charming. She succinctly gave me the lay of the land with the renovations going on… and got me sweetly to my room. I wish them all the best of luck in the future.
