Bertram Lodge Sandown Isle of WightPosted Jul 26, 2010 on Hotels.com
Nice hotel with friendly propietors, well equipped room very clean and tidy. En suite was "cosy" quite small with shower only which had a smaller than average cubicle, but clean and OK. Excellent breakfast with friendly service, the guide on the front door said evening meals were available, but never booked one or saw anyone else eating in evening so cannot comment on these. Good supply of toileteries supplied, but once used are not replaced, Tea and coffee in room, but used cups were not cleaned or replaced, only place to wash them was in bathroom sink. Car park is a bit small, only really space for 4 cars, with 7 rooms may not be able to get in, but plenty of street parking available. Sky TV advertised, but only in lounge, room TV's limited to BBC1 and 2, ITV, Channel 4 and radio, odd station on freeview, but not much. About 5-10 minutes from beach and seafront, easy walk, but uphill on way back. Sandown itself is a bit of a poor relation to Ryde, other than Pier and beach, not a lot for kids. Overall, enjoyed the stay and hotel offers good value for money.

Home from home (but you don't have to make your bed) :)Posted Sep 5, 2009 on Hotels.com
Gary & Lou are wonderful hosts, nothing was too much trouble. Room comfy, food wonderful what else could you ask for? My 9 year old son loved the pool table (especially when he beat me) and I loved the homely touches. Would definitely recommend this B&B if you want to be near train station, town and beach, all are within 10 mins walk. LOVE IT !!
