An unbelievably relaxing stayPosted May 16, 2015
Pros: Relaxing and comfortable surroundings.
Cons: In limited aspects showing its age
Location: Historic Appomattox Court House.
Our first experience with a B&B and a positive first step it was. A comfortable room with a fire place, a garden with out door seating a few steps away, wonderful and helpful hosts and lively and interesting breakfast mates.

It's just ok.Posted Feb 1, 2015
Pros: The fact that I only booked one night.
Cons: The box is too small.
Stayed their 15 hours and didn't see another soul. TV didn't work, but there was no one to tell. I was assigned an attic room accessed by a narrow spiral staircase even though I had called and informed them I was travelling with my dog. Once again, no one available to remedy the situation.

We loved our stay!Posted Jan 21, 2015
Location: Baine's Book & Coffee.
The hosts were personable and helpful. Our room was lovely (and especially cozy with the elec. fireplace), as were the shared spaces on the first floor--dining room, parlor, TV room and sun room.

The Train Definitely Distracts from the B & BPosted Oct 27, 2014
The B & B was nice, but the location very close to the train tracks kept us awake for a long time and woke us up early each morning. I would not stay here again.

Lovely house, nice guest access to various roomsPosted Oct 2, 2014
Pros: Beautiful older house, continues to be well kept.
Cons: Moving it to other towns we wanted to visit! However we think it would be a good base from which to explore the region.
Location: Civil war sites around, easygoing cafe downtown with good apple pie, hot chocolate, music events etc.
Relaxing, easy-going stay. Loved the large airy and well-kept rooms. Renee and Dana were available as needed, made sure we were comfortable and contented (which we were), and otherwise left the space to the guests.

Southern hospitality!Posted Sep 16, 2014
Pros: Unique, historic architecture Luxurious bathroom Friendly owners Central location
Cons: Nothing important
Location: Appomattox Courthouse National Park, Museum of the Confederacy, other sites related to Lee's retreat across VA at the end of the Civil War
A unique rambling house with plenty of interesting spaces for guests to explore or just relax. I was traveling with my sister, so the adjoining 2-room suite was perfect for our needs. Renee was a delight--very friendly and helpful. Breakfast--French toast--was great. The location is very close to the main historic sites and the center of town. We only stayed for one night, but would go back again without a qualm. Anyone considering a jaunt to this wonderfully historic area should know that there are few dinner spots, and that several of them are closed on Sunday night! We had the choice of Chinese, Mexican or Italian. We got a perfectly adequate plate of pasta in what was essentially a pizza joint, but we had imagined a country inn sort of dinner, or even a good burger, so were not thrilled with it.

Comforts of homePosted Oct 27, 2013
Pros: Felt like we were at home.
Location: We chose this bed and breakfast so that we could visit Appomattox Courthouse National Historical Park.
Very relaxing atmosphere. We were the only guest on that particular Sunday night so we had the house to ourselves. Renee checked in on us to make sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. Breakfast of French toast and sausage was delicious.

A great find!Posted Oct 20, 2013
Cons: Possibly have a light on the sign out by the road for the late night arrivals.
Location: Lots of Civil war history near by.
A quaint Tudor style home from the 1930's that has been renovated into an adorable, perfectly decorated B & B. The English Garden setting surrounding the home would be ideal for a wedding. A gazebo and patios off the back of the house with lots of yard space to host a wonderful party. Our room was spacious with the bathroom almost as big as our room. The hostess was very nice and the breakfast was wonderful. Wish we had more time to explore the property and enjoy.
