Nice hotel with excellent spa treatments

I had a wonderful experience at Jackie's. it's not your average hotel. more like a guesthouse and Jackie is a wonderful host. She takes care of everything. the yoga classes are great, the food is delicious, and spa treatments are amazing- definitely recommend the body scrub and deep tissue from Paulette. the reef is not on the beach itself- but fear not, it's a pretty close cab ride away. it's also close to Rick's Cafe, Natural's and many other fun hot spots. i went there for some much needed r&r, and came away making some new friends, and just reconnecting with nature, and of course spending some serious quality time with my friend too... overall my first time spent in Jamaica was made memorable by staying at Jackie's- i hope to be back!

Single lady getaway

Pros: I loved falling asleep to the roar of the ocean and being cooled by the ocean breeze. No need for a fan or A/C. Also, freshly prepared food and drink.
Cons: As far as the bathroom is concerned, you are one with nature. Showering outdoors took some getting use to, but you're securely walled in.
Location: Not much to do near by than have a drink at the Westender Inn next door, or visit the bird sanctuary across the street.
This hotel option was a great getaway from the resort crowds during the holidays. I enjoyed the personalized touch and the serene atmosphere. Jackie's on the reef is not the ideal option for the adventurous traveler since it's situated way out west with little to do near by. However, there are drivers to take you into town when needed. Recommended for an extended weekend yoga and spa retreat.
