Low Budget - sketchy

Posted Jul 15, 2014
Location: Close to French Quarter.
In the middle of a residential neighborhood. Seems more like a low budget hostel than a hotel. Mattress was a piece of foam. Bathroom from 1950s, needs major repair and upgrades. Would NOT recommend for a family.

Worst ever

Posted Jun 2, 2014
Pros: Leaving.
Cons: Everything.
Location: The location is a trap. The only thing o do is walk as fast as you can on the lighted street to the French Quarter.
I've stayed in $6 rat traps in third world countries better than this. Horrible everything. I felt badly for the staff that had to work there. Nothing is clean. The other tenants are up to no good at all. Just stay away unless you like filth, a garden hose for a shower, stinky sheets and bedding, and getting robbed.

Pros: nothing
Cons: rebuild and hire new staff.
The hotel room I had, room 105 had a larg whole in the bathroom with water leaking and mold. Two of the hotel staff were fighting in the lobby. There was plumbing work being done next door to me room with drilling at 8am in the morining. Another guess car was broken into. This was a horriable place to stay. I aske to be moved to another room and that never happen nor would they discount my room. I tried to load a pic but the pics will not load.

We were told that they were completely booked and no other rooms were available, yet we were moved four times. It rained inside and out, of the Hotel.

My girlfriend and I stayed at The Empress during Jazz fest. The room is super basic and run down, but it worked. We had a bed, ac and tv. The bathroom door wouldnt close, but a phillips screw driver could tighten up the screws on the door hinge and resolve that issue. The staff was nice. Housekeeping came in our room unexpected one day. They did a nice job, but left our door unlocked. We did not get back until 4am, and that was a little annoying. All in all, its not the Bates Motel. When you stay here you have to roll with the punches, if you know what i mean..

Terrible in the middle of New Orleans

Posted May 1, 2014
Pros: Location is convenient. Within walking distance to Bourbon Street and the French Quarter. Good access to convention center.
Cons: Demolish the motel and rebuild.
Location: Convention center, canal street, major hotels where events occur.
This should clearly be designated as a Motel with a negative star rating. No closet where one could hang one's clothes, no table in the room except for a night stand; some old mattress with plastic wrapping. It does look like an old house converted into a make-shift motel. Expedia should not list this motel unless it is for very little money, probably $30.00/night.

Horrible Place

Posted Apr 27, 2014
I don't understand why this so called hotel is even on Exoedia! It was NASTY from the second I pulled up. It had a horrible smoke smell, it was beyond dirty, run down, unsafe and I hadn't even walked in. Once inside the room was NASTY! The bathroom was DISGUSTING, I was scared to touch anything. I could keep going and going but I am so glad I only stayed one night!!! Remove this NASTY, DISGUSTING so called hotel from any travel spots. No one should ever stay there.

Great location, low price

Posted Apr 16, 2014
Pros: The price is a bargain but you get what you pay for.
Cons: Physical condition of the building is pretty bad. Old linoleum floors with a tiny throw rug by the bed, peeling paint in the tub, low water pressure.
Location: Loved the location. Just outside the French Quarter, on the edge of Treme. Easy walk to Bourbon St., business district, riverfront.
The staff were very friendly and helpful, but this is a hotel with few amenities. The room was relatively clean when I arrived, but was not cleaned at all during my stay (4 days). Soda and ice machines were broken, mattress had a crinkly plastic cover. Bathroom was as clean as it could be with tiles falling off the wall and paint peeling in the tub. If you are looking for the most basic accommodation at a very low price you will find it adequate. Nice little balcony, though, for a morning coffee or evening cocktail (byo).

Overpriced for a hole in the wall.

Posted Mar 31, 2014
Crappy hotel. Holes in the walls, flooring was horrible. Vagrants hanging around. Window was broken and halfway hanging out and, of course, it rained that night.
