Total Disappointment

Posted Jun 12, 2014
Pros: Quiet street, cafe on the corner
Cons: See above.
This place looked cute on the website, but my room (409) was not. Shabby and wobbly furniture, no attempt at decoration, mold beginning to grow in the shower, an oddly stocked kitchenette (no spoons), no bathmat. Not good. Don't go.

An absolute dump

Posted Jun 1, 2014 on Hotels.com
The price was right but the conditions were awful. Old run-down facilities. Has the look of a tenement. Television didn't work. Bed mattress was lumpy. Just an awful place. Even at a reasonable price one expects more than this. Even on a tight budget, I wouldn't stay there again. Ever.

overall a great little place--staff is great, and unobtrusive. The mattresses could use replacing. I will definitely stay there again

Flea pit on 81st

Posted May 29, 2014
We lived for years on this street so I thought it would be nice to stay there after an absence of four years. I was encouraged because there is a nice cafe and restaurant with the same name in the street and I assumed (wrongly) they were under same ownership at the hotel. What a blunder! It's hard to know where to start telling so I won't and advise you DON'T

Quiet area

Hotel was very old in need of new beds. Bath and sitting area adequate. Television and air conditioner difficult to operate need clear instructions. Overall I liked it for short term stay of two nights.

Upper East Side Hotel

Posted May 21, 2014 on Hotels.com
Basically the hotel is in a nice location with a 15 minute walk to the subway or to central park. The area is quite silent in the wee of the evening/night which is great if you need to get rest from the bustling city during daytime. The state of the room, however, was not really that great, but nothing to scare you away, either. The rooms were dark but I guess if you visit NYC you would not want to spend time in your room but experience the city. Breakfast is included but if you want something of quality, then you should just find something else.

A quirky fun place to stay. It's cheap for NYC and really interesting and quirky. We liked it.

Unbelievable

Posted Apr 23, 2014
I booked this room to be close to the hospital where my wife was having surgerynin tnt morning. The room looked nothing like the brochure. Bubbled paint on the walls, just a terrible, terrible experience. I actually couldn't believe I used expedia to book this room. Or was like something out of a1980s nightmare. No staff on duty after 6pm.

Upper East Side

We were looking for a hotel on the Upper East Side. This was 3 blocks from were we needed to be. The staff was very friendly.
