Nice neighborhood, but the hotel not good

The staff was barely there, saw them once, only 3 channels worked on TV, stove didn't work, the kitchenette came with one fork a few bowls and a couple of coffee cups, we was suppose to get continental breakfast but do to "construction that we was not told about" we did not have free breakfast, and mold in our shower.. not a good experience

This was our first trip to NYC and I really didn't know what to expect. I had envisioned quaint & cozy but it was just cramped and dirty. The staff was very friendly but the building had definitely been neglected. There was mildew in the shower, dust bunnies and a shower cap under the bed, and the hall carpet was absolutely filthy. We liked the location but without serious renovations will not stay here again.

Need to Update

We have stayed here before for one night and had a super squeaky bed. I was told by management after that stay that they were updating the beds, so I thought we would give it another try. Well, if anything we even had a worse bed! I had a terrible time sleeping because every time I moved the bed would squeak so loud it would wake me up. The room could have been cleaner, but were not super terrible. The table was so wobbly we were afraid to use it...my husband found the missing nut and bolt on the floor and tried to fix it, but still wasn't very good. The door lock was difficult to use. When we returned one evening the people who came to straighten up and remove our breakfast tray left our door ajar, so it was left open for who knows how long. The neighborhood is great, I love the location, but unless I know they have updated I would probably not return.

Quaint and fun

My husband and I took our three children to NYC for the first time. Gracie Inn was perfect for us. The location was ideal - a relatively quiet, residential neighborhood with plenty of restaurants, easy access to the subway, and just blocks from Central Park and the Met. We loved eating meals on the rooftop patio (penthouse suite). The kids were captivated by the narrow staircase to the master bedroom with the greenhouse windows - fun in a thunderstorm! The kitchenette helped make meal expenses more manageable. Nice, personalized breakfast delivered to the door at requested hour. Staff happy to help, but only onsite during the day. Rustic feel - exposed pipes, wood floors, aging fixtures,but absolutely adequate.

Total Disappointment

Pros: Quiet street, cafe on the corner
Cons: See above.
This place looked cute on the website, but my room (409) was not. Shabby and wobbly furniture, no attempt at decoration, mold beginning to grow in the shower, an oddly stocked kitchenette (no spoons), no bathmat. Not good. Don't go.

The price was right but the conditions were awful. Old run-down facilities. Has the look of a tenement. Television didn't work. Bed mattress was lumpy. Just an awful place. Even at a reasonable price one expects more than this. Even on a tight budget, I wouldn't stay there again. Ever.

overall a great little place--staff is great, and unobtrusive. The mattresses could use replacing. I will definitely stay there again
