“Charming historical Inn with ocean view”

We arrrived after 9p.m. and the kitchen was closed. But the waitstaff graciously offered up soup and salad from the kitchen. Our room was upgraded and we couldn't have been more pleased. Very relaxing environment. We will definitely return.

“a good clean facility with just the right amount of bells and whistles”

I went to the Ocean View Inn to stay overnight after my childhood friend's 50th birthday party. Didn't want to drive back to NH. The room was clean and a great view of the ocean, a nice table and chairs in the room and another set outside. There isn't a fridge but a good cooler and ice from local stores kept drinks and fruit safe. Didn't use the restaurant at all; but would go back to stay again. Bed was comfortable too. The person checking me in when I arrived and out when I left was very nice. The room I had was in what I remember as a motel....drive up to your door and go in.No complaints.

“Go back in time and enjoy the experience”

We stayed in the main house. The staff was informative and helpful, and showed us some pictures of the Inn from the early 1900s. The decor is what you would expect from an older 1900s Inn, including lots of wood detail, push button light switches and decorative ceiling light fixtures. The claw foot tub with the wrap around shower curtain took some getting used to, but we enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to anyone. The ocean view was incredible too.

“Greatest view in Gloucester”

The view is magnificent and the location ideal. The condition of the infrastructure in our room dated but the furniture was A+. The view from the dining room is absolutely gorgeous.

“Beautiful historical resort on the ocean”

For those travelling to Gloucester or Rockport this is a great hotel location on the ocean. Rooms are clean with two double beds. We suggest renting a bike to go to the beach and Rockport. No parking to be found at either town only for local residents with a sticker and very limited street parking . Great and reasonable food at Charlie's...try the clam rolls and the breakfast cran-blueberry pancakes..delicious.......... Angela and Richard..............Norcross, GA 7/9/11

“Great for a couple”

The hotel is old and quaint,. Needs some help with the structure [window frames], and insulation. TV screen size very small considering the distance from the head of the bed. Furniture was niece but sparse. The bath room faucets needed lubrication. The staff was very cordial, especially Matt.

“Beautiful views”

The hotel was rustic and charming. However, the mattress was very uncomfortable and the claw foot tub with shower curtain ring was hard to get in and out of.

“Overhaul needed”

I took ten of my friends to this hotel for an overnight stay celebrating my 50th birthday party. We had three rooms all attached to eachother and let me just say that the view from our rooms and shared porch was stunning. However, it could not make up for the condition of our rooms and the hotel in general. The sheets in one of the rooms had stains on them (it appeared they had not been cleaned). The heat in two of the three rooms never came on during the night after turning the thermostat up and the sheets on the beds were very skimpy. One sheet and a thin quilt for each bed. Needless to say the unfortunate group of us that had the two rooms lacking heat did not sleep well. One of the rooms lacked towels so we had to call to have them brought up in the morning. The door between two rooms was damaged and had a nail sticking out of it. The TV in the middle room did not work. The lobby had a layer of dust that could not be missed with the morning sun shining in. Basically, this hotel needed an overhaul for sure and at the rates they charge to stay there, I cannot understand why it is so poorly kept up. With such a stunning view, this hotel could be amazing.

“go somewhere else if it's hot outside”

the staff had not turned on the a/c in our room even though the temp. that day was predicted to be in the 90's so our third floor room was also in the 90's with only a small window unit to cool it. the pool was horrible...murky and dirty which i pointed out to the management and was thanked but not even offered a soda to cool off with....would not go back even with the lovely views
