Fine if you aren't there for the hotel

My fiancé and I stayed at this hotel close to Christmas for the sole purpose of visiting Birch Run to Christmas shop. When we arrived the receptionist was quite friendly but a the security guard wearing a full on ski mask fooled me into a heart attack thinking we were being robbed. When we were trying to pick up some alcohol in Saginaw we had to go to a really shady place where the employees were behind like 6cm of bullet proof glass. PS get your beers at Meijer before you get to Saginaw. The room was absolutely FREEZING when we got into it. The heat must not have been turned on for weeks! We wore our coats to bed and it was fine the next morning. Good TV programming. Pool was down when we were there but the atrium area looked nice. Comfy bed. Can't beat it for the price, just be willing to laugh at yourself for staying somewhere so cheap.

Hotel has seen better days!

Nice staff but the building is looking quite run down. The whole pool area is closed for maintenance- but we didn't see any work being done the 3 days we were there. Curtain rod in our bathroom was broken so the shower curtain just hung in a bunch in the middle. There is no heat in the hallways of the second floor- it's as cold as outside- so a cold breeze blows under the door. Our room heater didn't work well either so our room was cold.

Nasty!

Doors going outside didn't lock. Blankets were filthy. Shower curtain was discustingly dirty. Coffee pot had not been cleaned since the last person used it. It stuck like must and cigarette smoke. We didn't even stay. It pas horrible.

Good value for price

Pros: Good value for loction that we needed
Cons: Needs a mini reno in halls and door going into the hotel
Location: Lots of shopping in the area
Good location for what we were doing, Hotel need a freshen up in hall ways and the were weak on breakfast slection. 2 days only toast or waffles no butter for toast and on third day Sunday had yogurt and fruit as ell maybe they were out of stock. Great pool and hot tub.

Not worth it!

Pros: The staff.
Cons: The smell, fix the walls that are cracking, the missing tiles in the bathroom, change the sheets, vacuum the room, much more!
Location: The location seemed to be good, we only went for one reason.
The hotel is in desperate need of a face lift. It is very dirty, stinky, and I don't think they changed the sheets..... The staff though were very nice. I would not recommend this hotel at all!

Worst hotel ever....so dirty.

I accidentally bait & switched myself by researching the same chain in Birch Run and then booking in Saginaw. Do not, I REPEAT DO NOT STAY HERE...unless of course you're planning on filming a zombie or horror film. Dirty: once you get past the newly updated lobby, you're met with absolute filth. The dimly lit and smoke-smelling corredors guide you to either a scary elevator or a stinky starwell. The room wasn't much better. The comforter had holes in it, the wallpaper was falling off the walls and the tub, my GOD the tub. If you bathe here, you'll come out dirtier than you started. Unsafe: Usually hotels offer extra security in the evenings by making you swipe your keycard to get into any entrance to the hotel other than the front lobby. In this case, the side door to the hotel didn't even close, meaning anyone off the streets could walk in and occupy a vacant corner of the hotel; lovely. And heaven forbid I need to go outside and retrieve anything from my car at any point after 11pm. There was some kind of party going on in the parking lot from 11pm - 4am. We found "butt marks" on our car when we left in the morning. Severly Dated: The creepy corredors aside, clearly this hotel was bought up by Best Western and just reopened without many changes. The TV's are old clunkers, the heaters are loud and either way too hot or way too cold, the phone rattled when we used it (to book another hotel) and the Do Not Disturb sign still had the Best Western logo. Hotel is falling apart. Needs a lot of Maintenance

Location: Birch Run about 15 min away
We went to our room. It was 45-50 degrees in the room. Very cold. We turned on the heat. 30 min later, it was still cold in the room. Heat blowing out cold air. We called the front desk. They argued and said we had to have the heat on low for it to work. we already tried that. Asked for a different room. They eventually changed us. Rooms are dingy and walls falling apart. Hallways had young men running around loudly. White blanket was laying in the hallway all 3 day of our stay. Looked like it was soiled with urine. Non-smoking room smelled of smoke. walls in hallways and pool area with the plaster breaking up and falling off. Hotel smells very musty and like mildew.

Okay for the price but will never stay here again.

My husband and I stayed here for a last minute sweetest day getaway for one night. We wanted to be close to frankenmuth, bronners and birch run outlet. It was close to all of that but the staff was rude. They need to work on there manors and social skills. The lady who was running the continental breakfast was insanely rude and overbearing. I have never experienced that at ANY hotel before. The hotel itself was okay. Needs to be updated terribly. We liked the pool and hot tub area but again that also needs to be updated. The thing i disliked the most is they had a wedding reception going on the night we stayed there. The music and people were SO loud and obnoxious. It was ridiculous. They kept me up all night, like im talking 4 am i could hear them still. It was okay i guess for the cheap price and for it being last minute but never again will we stay here. I would recommend staying somewhere else even if it means paying more. You get what you pay for.
