Did you know they have a fair in San Diego?

Posted Jul 1, 2015
Pros: Friendly staff - polite and professional.
Cons: Nothing, great place to stay.
Location: You are a mile from the ocean, 500 feet from a putt-putt course, across the street from Del Mar Horsetrack/County Fair.
Hotel is great, fair traffic unexpected delay to everything. Simply an oddity if not expecting a HUGE county fair going on at the Del Mar horse track. So avoid from first week of June until first week of July. Another unique thing is they really go out to encourage people with pets to stay at the hotel.

Don't expect regular Hilton quality.

Posted Jun 30, 2015
This hotel is a Hilton franchise. It is not operated by Hilton, and it's clear. The carpet on the floor was not vacuumed in my room. The bathroom was ridiculous. They have a table for towels (no towel bars on the wall). But the table doesn't fit in the bathroom, so it was crammed under the counter, sticking out 10 inches (25 cm), right where you need to stand to use the sink. On the plus side, the bed and sheets were comfortable. The desk and desk chair were OK. The "free wifi" was pretty slow, but I opted not to pay extra for "fast wifi". Plus, no T-Mobile coverage in my room. The TV kept showing weird over-lay ads indicating the special features of the LG model of TV. I had no idea how to turn them off. If I cared enough I would have called staff, but it wasn't important enough. Still it was annoying. I did not use any of the hotel amenities, so I cannot comment on the pool, restaurant, or fitness center, but they looked decent. The front desk staff were friendly, but the room cleaning staff knocked on my door 3 times on the morning of my check-out asking if I was still there. Each time I told them, I'll check out at noon. I should have but the "do not disturb" sign on the door knob, but telling them once should have been enough. Another tip: stay away if there is a big event (like the month-long San Diego County Fair). Traffic is a nightmare getting in and out of the hotel during big events. And they charge a mandatory $18 parking fee overnight.

Very Nice. Convienent to attractions.

Posted Jun 30, 2015
We stayed here as it was convienent to the attractions we went to, SD Zoo, LEGOLAND, and SD Zoo Safari Park. All within a half hour of hotel. Only issue was shower filled up as the drain wasn't very good. But rest of the hotel room was excellent.

Very nice location.

Posted Jun 18, 2015
Cons: Be careful if visiting between June 5 - July 5, 2015 since this location is right across the street from the fairgrounds.
My son picked this hotel based on the pictures of the pool and it turned out to be an excellent choice. The staff was excellent and really stepped up when our son became sick in the early morning hours. Everything we needed, new linens, etc. were brought to our room immediately. We will definitely stay here again.

Nice hotel, across from the DelMar Race track

Posted Jun 17, 2015
I will definitely come back here next time I'm in Del Mar! The staff was very friendly and attentive, the decor of the hotel lobby was nice and clean. They have a nice heated pool and Jacuzzi that are perfect to relax in, and also these beautiful outdoor patio seating areas with 2 bon fire/fire pits that were just relaxing! Food was great, the breakfast buffet and the bar was also great. Perfect for a weekend Getaway anytime! no issues with cleanliness, noise or bad service at all.

Pros: Large rooms with floor space for two young children; breakfast staff great; beautiful lobby, outdoor and pool area. Quiet even though state fair near
Cons: "guest office area" could be more screened from lobby area.
This is a quiet gem. We has three rooms while in SD for uncle's service. The rooms are updated and spacious. Even though the county fair was across the street, we couldn't hear it. The outdoor seating area nicely landscaped and also heated by gas lamps at night providing a nice area for late cocktail.
