Cons: The food could very much be improved!!!!!!
A wonderful experience... the location and room was very nice!!! The pool area and even though the beach was off site, they were very nice! The staff very courteous and friendly! The only item that needs addressing is the food... a VERY poor breakfast and the meals (lunch and dinner) could use improving as well. I would definitely recommend for a family and a romantic couple.

Jungle resort - 20 meter beach front with rocks

Posted Mar 3, 2015
Pros: We did not like anything about this "place". It is disgusting to watch wild animals in confinement.
Cons: Let the animals out.
Location: Get a rental car and sleep at the "resort".
Food terrible. Check in - had to wait for 15 minutes for a pickup. Still no pickup. Chose to walk the distance (carrying the heavy load) the staff helped with the light stuff. Great place for people with kids that enjoy seeing animals in cages!!! They never asked to take the terrible food off the bill. You need a car to go to outside restaurants. Had to wait over 15 minutes for luggage pickup when checking out. Ohh I forgot to mention breakfast... Between 6 and 8 (yes it is daylight around 7 AM. Enjoy a dry "sugar piece of bread". Fruit is good, but come early and bring a flashlight. On a positive note they have shuttle to a beach club nearby. The wrist band that they make you wear ripped my $110 shirt. (Sorry we don't cover that) WE WILL NEVER GO BACK.

Pros: The animals
Cons: Everything
Location: Playa Del Carmen or the beaches in Tulum. You're close to Xel-Ha; Explore and Xacret. Akumal close by if you want to snorkel with the turtles.
The animals are in small confined areas without their own proper amenities such as grass/hay. The farm animals are in very small confined areas and smell really bad. The room smelled of mold. Whenever I approached the reception area I felt I was being a bother and it was never really staffed so you had to wait a long time for someone to help you. Waiting for a cart was ridiculous so we ended up walking to where we wanted to go. The beach was very small and could not swim due to rocks and coral. We were never advised of any events taking place such as swimming with the seal or any night life that might be going on. We ended up spending most of our time off the property.

Nice hotel and close to major attractions.

Pros: When you go out to the balcony of your room you feel like if you were in the forest.
Cons: The continental breakfast hours should be extended.
Location: Just 15 To 20 minutes to theme Parks. In the city Playa del Carmen there are good restaurants and an exciting night life.
Very good facilities. Excelent inside zoo. Nice pool. It has It owns senote where you can do snorkling and kayack.

Good spot for family vacation

Posted Jan 6, 2015
Pros: The site is lovely & we liked the somewhat rustic character of the site.
Cons: Obviously staffing over Christmas/New Years is difficult. Service in the main restaurant where we had dinner twice, was pretty bad.
Location: Plenty to see & do. Lovely beaches, Maya ruins, diving options, etc
As some others have commented this site has a slightly run down feel to it. In a sense, no wonder. It was obviously conceived as a really grand venture - initially almost 3 times the size it is today. Apparently it was devastated in a hurricane some 11 years ago, defaulted on bank loans, caused a split up of ownership etc. It has been resuscitated as a resort with some 160 rooms but with all the attributes of the larger venture (the skeleton of the remaining site is visible right to the south of the present resort. Sort of spooky). The zoo does exist & is quite impressive as is the pool setup. I shudder to think how difficult it must be to manage an operation as complex & extensive as this one is. Maintenance of the physical plant needs to be continuous & has obviously lagged a bit. And staffing must also be a challenge. But net, net we thoroughly enjoyed our stay & would return.

Personnel d'accueil malhonête

Posted Jan 5, 2015
