Idylle auf dem Berg

Posted Jul 10, 2015

Nice, modern lodgings off the beaten track.

Pros: Interesting use of modern materials in the rooms.
Cons: due to the location of the B&B it might be desirable to have a swimming pool in order for the house to be a "destination" of itself.
Location: Beautiful countryside location up in the mountains above Bellagio and Lake Como.
The building and maintenance of the B&B is a labor of love, reflecting the owners' personal aesthetic taste and desired style of life. The primary road leading to the house is a bit over halfway to Bellagio from the city of Como. The side road you turn off on leads past the village of Zelbio and is a bit of a trek. Actual driving time to Bellagio is about 45 minutes on narrow, winding Italian countryside roads. While there are some restaurants in the area, it seems that the primary benefit of the countryside location would be for travelers interested in country walks and perhaps agrotoursim conisdering the the distance from Lake Como and the lake road leading to Bellagio. While the B&B is very interesting in its modern construction, it has limited facilities taking into account the rural setting. I might suggest for the owners to add some basic kitchen items and appliances (sink, dishes, electric water kettle, etc.) in the common room so that some self-catering would be possible. You should only consider this accomodation if you are comfortable driving Italian backroads and not prone to motion sickness in automobiles.

Quiet location

Can't fault it. Clean , great service and most important of all QUIET. If you don't like quiet don't come. Allow three quarters of an hour from Como.
