Haven’t been to Disney in over 20 years...

The hotel is in a very convenient location however be prepared for a very long bus ride to any restaurant to downtown Disney- the hotel concierge made us reservations and said, "it’s only 2 stops away." This is about a half hour ride. Also, Disney is great if you have kids and don’t care if you are not looking your best due to the intense heat of central Florida as well as the numerous rides that soak you from head to toe and I mean soaked, sticky and sweaty. The humidity is so high that you don’t dry off and need a pit stop to change so carry an extra pair of clothes or get a "park hop" ticket to go back to your room to change. The food was decent every place we ate and the room was large, clean and comfortable. The services are not up to my standards- maybe I’m spoiled but I felt there was a lack of genuine hospitality and was a bit like a cattle call. Also, I don’t appreciate being nickeled and dimed to death. It’s very expensive for what you get and I’m used to the high cost of living in Manhattan. Two people could easily spend $1000.00 a day for screaming misbehaved kids and their parents.

The animal kingdom was excellent

Luxurious hotel

Modern decor, marble bathroom, very attractive setting, convenient to monorail. Bathroom could, however, use more shelf space -- large square sinks are impractical and limit storage areas.

Love this hotel!!

We have stayed at the Contemporary before so we somewhat knew what to expect. The prices are expensive, so if we stay here is it usually only for one night. The convenience of having the monorail inside the hotel is a major plus and one of the reasons we have chosen this hotel in the past. The first time we stayed at the Contemporary was because we were visiting The Magic Kingdom for Mickey’s Christmas event with my then 2 year old. This time we were visiting for Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween event with my now 4 year old. At the time of check in, the was a slight wait at the counter. One of the gentlemen that were working the line came up to me and offered to check us in himself. Not only was he very quick and courteous, but he was able to upgrade our room to face the Disney castle, so that my 4 year old could get the full experience. The room was very spacious and clean. The hotel also has several places to eat, even when getting back from the parks after midnight. We will definitely stay here again, even if it is for just one night at a time.

Disney’s Contemporary Resort

Overall there was nothing wrong with the hotel. It was clean and the staff seemed friendly. I had no issues and no request to the hotel. I did not get a warm and fuzzy Disney expereince. So, if you want a nice, clean, room and no Disney feeling then this could be the place for you. You can walk to Diseny in seven minutes and the monorail will bring you there quickly. You can walk faster than you can catch the monorail to the park. Coming back it is very fast. Overall my stay was nice. I ate at the cafe one night on my return from the park about 9PM. The food was good. No complaints. I would have to say everything was OK and nothing seemed outstanding. I stayed here mid week for two nights to celebrate my Birthday. I am glad that I did not bring my family. This was a girls getaway. I don’t think my 3 year old son would have enjoyed this hotel.

You just can’t beat the convenience

We stayed at the contemporary this fall on my son’s third birthday. We were visiting the Magic Kingdom with the whole family and it was a wonderful trip. Being right next door to the park was a bonus in so many different ways - first, it was super-easy to get between the park and the hotel, a short walk or a short monorail ride. This is especially handy with young children that need to leave the park for naptime. Also, being so close offered the kids a chance to get sneak peeks at Space Mountain and Cinderella’s Castle - right from the hotel windows. They loved the fact that there was a ’train’ going through the middle of the hotel too. Service was fantastic. The room was nice. Overall, the hotel is showing it’s age, but is impeccably maintained and given the service levels and convenience, it can’t be beat!

The monorail ride is fun and pretty short, but don’t be afraid to walk to the Magic Kingdom gates. It’s really just a hop, skip, and a jump and actually faster than riding the monorail.

Had a great time

We had a wonderful time at Disney with our grandchildren Our stay at the Contemporary was made easy by the attentiveness of the staff. Our only negative was the noise coming from the character breakfast very early in the morning.

Labor Day Weekend 2009

We hadn’t been to the Contemporary Hotel in over 10 years. My 12yo really wanted to stay at a "monorail" hotel. I was a little nervous because it’s one of the older hotels at Disney but the rate on Expedia was very good so I decided to take a chance. I was pleasantly surprised as the rooms had been remodeled since our last visit as was the pool. Obvious major benefit was the monorail but I was pleased with the services, pool, small beach, hammocks, activities etc. Not a very busy time at Disney either which made the trip very pleasant!

Great Experience

The hotel was wonderful and so were the all the employees. The main pool was perfect for children (large, not too deep, and with a fun slide.)The room had a frig which worked out great for eating breakfast in the room before heading to the monorail or buses for the Disney Parks. We had a great view of the lake. We were also able to watch the Magic Kingdom fireworks from the hotel property. We will definitely stay there again!

Great place to stay

We were only there a couple of days so it was great to stay in a place so close to everything. It was a great room that slept 5 which is hard to find without paying a hefty amount. I was nervous to use expedia but actually got a better rate then through Disney itstelf. I don’t know how, but we were also upgraded to a room right on the lake. Wonderful time. Will definately use Expedia and travel to the Contemporary again.

Deluxe actually means Deluxe

In the past we have stayed in multiple Disney resorts from value to moderate to deluxe. The rooms were all the same as far as beds/furnishings quality. The contemporary had comfortable beds and linens as well as updated contemporary bath fixtures and artwork was good. It is the first time that I thought that the room lived up to the title "Deluxe"

Very comfortable for family of four to five.

Clean and attentive service

The room was spacious, clean and well equipped, enough towels, soap, etc. The hotel has a great view of the Magic Kingdom and the bay. My only problem is that an internet connection cost 9.95/day

I think this is the best value, free parking/valet, easy access to the Disney Tram for the Magic Kingdom and Epcot. Bus transportation to the other resorts.

Good location

Great location. Tiny room w/ 2 queen beds but "contemporary" design was really inconvenient. No convenient place to put suitcases or unpack clothes or hang towels. Great pool/beach for kids. Restaurants were decent but expensive.

Don’t Bother

We stayed in the Garden Wing of this hotel and it was disgusting. We stayed on the second floor and when you came out of the elevator, you were slammed with a horrendous odor of mildew that could make you vomit. When we complained, they did absolutely nothing about. The bed linens were dirty and the sheets were not changed every day. And when the beds were made (or in their eyes, made), nothing was made neat. The sheets were just thrown on and left to hang to the floor. The lighting was horrendous in the room. There was no water pressure in the bathroom and the bathroom floor was neither swept nor cleaned the entire stay. The plastic bags in the garbage cans were just thrown in. They were not fitted in properly. There was so much dust behind the headboard of the beds as well. The hallways were also filthy, dusty and musty-odored. I would not stay in this hotel ever again. And if you do not have reservations for dining anywhere, forget it. There is no such thing as "walk-ins". You will have no place left to go but the Contempo Cafe where the food was terrible and horrendously overpriced. We couldn’t even get soft-serve ice cream cones for our kids. We were told by the front desk to go to the Magic Kingdom for that. We paid alot of money per night for what we thought would be convenience, cleanliness and comfort and got nothing but inconvenience, poor food and wasted money down the drain. Avoid this hotel at all costs.

Great hotel, super convenient to the parks

Contemporary Resort is great! It is super convenient to the parks, as the monorail passes right through the lobby. The restaurants, both California Grill and the Wave, are excellent and service is very friendly and helpful. We got an upgraded room without even asking off the main lobby with a nice view of the center of the hotel. The quick eatery is much improved and now serves quite good food in its own right. If you don’t want to rent a car, you want easy access to all Disney parks, and you want great service and food, this is your choice.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

If you stay here, use the Disney free Magic Express bus to get to the hotel and you really don’t need a rent-a-car. Anyway it would just sit in the parking lot.

Return to Disney after almost 30 years

The last time I was at Disney, I was a child. I recently went back with my 10yr old. The old Contemporary is still there but has been nicely updated a few years ago. The hotel must have been completely remodeled and is good shape. The rooms are large and comfortable. I believe it is the best place to stay at Disney because of its central location . Your kids will love the proximity to the Magic Kingdom and if you get a park side room you can see the fireworks over the park nightly. The only down side of the hotel is limited options for restaurants and food. (Your kids will demand to go to Chef Mickey to dine with the characters but the food is of poor quality and expensive). Downtown Disney which is a short shuttle away has much more food selection at better prices. Overal still a great hotel

Traveler's tip on dining

Figure out meals before you go. Make reservations for the character dinning and restaurants in the parks early---before you get there.

I fell in love again

This was my first visit since 1998 and I was very impressed. Although I was not in the tower I found my room to be just as luxurios as I remember. Room service was excellent and you must try the pizza. On a side note, the blinds and curtains are the best I have ever seen. The room was absolutely dark at 8:30 AM and allowed us to sleep in after a full day at the magic kingdom.

Great Weekend.

My spouse and I arrived thinking we were booked in the garden view room. To my surprise, they had upgraded us to a bay lake view room in the main tower. The room was amazing and clean. The beds were comfortable to sleep, to the point where you didn’t want to get up. I highly recommend staying in this hotel if you ever plan on going to Disney.

Convenient Hotel

The Contemporary is really convenient for Magic Kingdom and Epcot via Monorail ... and pretty good for buses to other attractions. Only drawbacks are 1) if you stay in the main building it can be noisy 2) bathrooms are a little tricky as not much space for your toiletries. Pluses, the hotel’s casual dining area is open very late and is self-service, easy to order.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Go to Downtown Disney to eat, better value and more choices. The fish and chip place/pub is great and fairly reasonable. Epcot is a good place to stay for the evening and have dinner - more choices if you get tired of typical Disney fare - burgers or chicken!

Not impressed

We were very disappointed with the quality of room service at this hotel. I had to have the staff change the bed linens because of bites. The room service was unusually poor considering the hotel and the price that it commands. Towels were not clean in appearance, spots, etc. We did appreciate the service at the restuarants and personnel not associated with room service.
