Keep On Looking!

We arranged accomodations for the night prior to leaving for a cruise. When we finnaly found the hotel (no easy job by far) it was totally under construction....the office was under a tent! The rooms while as stated were very old and dated. The king size bed was really a double size and that was all they had available when we arrived even though we had reserved weeks ahead. The only good thing was the breakfast provided was good however though we had planned to leave our vehicle at the hotel (which was more ’Mo" than "HO" ) while on our cruise it would have been parked around back with no security....we felt better to drive it onto the cruise port and park in the secure parking there. In total......find another place to stay if you are looking this was no bargain......I am surprised that AAA recommends this at all.

Good Value

I stayed here when I ran the Long Beach Half Marathon in Oct 2009. The traffic on the way back from the race was so bad it took me over an hour to go 4 miles, however they allowed all race participants to check out late which gave me the extra time I needed. Its not a luxurious hotel but was clean and provided me with what I needed. It was nice to have a refridgerator. Desk staff were helpful. When I used the shower only about half of the water actually reached the shower head. I mentioned this when I checked out and they made a note to check it.

Will Stay Again on Our Next Cruise

Super price for one night stay. Rooms were old, but clean & roomy. Check in staff was very helpful...maid service was great. Shuttle driver was the best. Hotel close to groceries, fast food & gas. Will definitely stay again.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

Cruisers leaving from Long Beach can leave their vehicles at the hotel for no charge. The hotel shuttles you to & from the terminal. That can be a huge savings on parking at the terminal.

Great value for the money

Great value. I stayed at this hotel for a week. The staff were polite and very helpful. The pool is great and very comfortable. Quiet and restful hotel.

Traveler's tip on dining

Everyone who stays at this hotel MUST go to the Greenfield Restaurant directly next door. AMAZING all-you-can-eat Brazilian barbeque with a never ending selection of amazing meat. Outstanding service and food.

TOO NOISY

HOTEL OUTSIDE AREA TOO NOISY. GUSTS TALKING LOUD AND CARRYING ON OUTSIDE AFTER MIDNIGHT. RESTAURANT NEXT DOOR FAR OVERRATED AND TOO EXPENSIVE. ROOMS OK. GOOD POOL

Traveler's tip on dining

BRAZILLIAN RESTAURANT ON PROPERTY NEXT DOOR WAS FAR TOO EXPENSIVE AND SERVICE WAS HORRIBLE. CONTONETAL BREAKFAST AT HOTEL WAS OK, AVERAGE

Best secret when visiting the area.

I was totally impressed with the hotel. I booked it with low expectations based on the price and area and was really impressed by them. Great service, friendly staff, and clean rooms. You cannot find a better hotel for the price. It has been newly renovated and has a great feel inside of the room. It has a very a neighborly feeling.

Traveler's tip on dining

If you can drive down the street you end up in a great restaurant area. Very good food including a great Italian place and Vietnamese food.

Nothing Fancy..Very Basic

The room is fine if not not expecting much. It is very basic and clean. It is older, but it was clean. Plenty of restaurants and shopping near by. If your looking to save money for other things, this is your place.

Good shuttle service

This hotel has good shuttle service and free parking for folks who want to park their car at the hotel during your Long Beach cruise. They even pick you up and drop you off. The outside looks very attractive, but the room itself needs a lot of upgrade and maintenance. I would stay again if they remodel the inside of the room. I didn’t really feel comfortable. Good complimentary breakfast.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Free parking at the hotel if you want to leave your car their during your cruise.

Not So Welcome at the Guest House

Requested a late night check in, non smoking unit..clerk tried to give us two full size beds, king size was made at reservation, took 30 minutes for clerk to find us the very last unit on property, view of dumpster and rest of units under repair...Cigarette smoke and butts were all over the room...Dialed Expedia from the lobby and the clerk found a unit directly across from lobby...Must be too busy for customer service or new to industry!

Traveler's tip on recreational activities

Minutes from ocean and beaches, right across street from golf courses

The Price was Right

The Price was Right The Guesthouse Long Beach is an older facility on a quiet stretch of Pacific Coast Highway. Located 3 miles southeast of the Long Beach airport, this modestly priced facility is across the street from a municipal park/golf course and less than a mile from Cal State Univ at LB. The rooms are a bit small by today’s standards, but came with a comfortable bed, full bath, sink/vanity with hairdryer, small fridge, coffee maker and cable tv. The lobby breakfast consisted of coffee, juice, toast, bagels, cereal and make ’em yourself waffles - quite good!!

Traveler's tip on dining

Brazilian steakhouse next door - bring your appetite, meat lovers!

Suited Our Purpose

Chose this hotel due to it’s proximity to our son’s apartment. It’s not really near anything in Long Beach...shopping, convention center, beach. The pool was nicer than expected, the room was clean although the bed was uncomfortable. The air conditioning was fine for March, but I’d have concerns about it if I was visiting in July. Complimentary continental breakfast was the same crappy stuff you find everywhere. You’d think in CA they could do better with the fruit than bananas. Overall, it was a fine place to sleep and shower (great water pressure!) but certainly not one of those places to remember.

Good middle-range price hotel

An nice alternative to the pricey hotels downtown. Convenient to freeways. Nice lobby for a motel-type establishment. Great Brazilian restaurant right next door, and public golf course across the street. Five minute drive to downtown Long Beach.

Decent, affordable hotel

The room was very standard...but clean enough and the price was very reasonable. The continental breakfast was fairly typical...cereals, toast, cook-your-own waffles, juices, pastries. We didn’t use the pool, but it looked nice and well maintained. It was a good location, close to the airport, CSU, and restaurants and shops. Try the Brazilian barbecue place next door...it’s excellent!

Location, location, location!

The hotel staff are very easy to work with, and knowledgeable of the area. The hotel is not up to date with the decor, but clean. The room could have used brighter lights for reading and eating. The bed was surprisingly comfortable.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Take advantage of the shuttle service. I went to the Queen Mary one day and the Aquarium of the Pacific the next. Lots of variety in eating venues. Driving to other destinations was typical LA traffic, but worth it: Planetarium, Harvest Church in Riverside, Santa Monica, Newport Beach, and Laguna Beach are nice.

better than the pictures onine.

When we pulled into the hotel parking lot, we were pleasantly surprised as to how nice the facility was, it was nicer than the pics online. We REALLY appreciated the free breakfast due to budgeted funds! The Belgian waffles were very delicious, and the real butter was the bonus. We only had to buy one meal while we were there because breakfast was provided.

Pleasant stay.

Stayed one evening prior to starting a 7 day cruise. It was nice to be able to start the day more relaxed, rather than dashing from the airport. I will certainly repeat the process the next time I take another cruise from Long Beach.

park & sail

The park & sail package offered at this hotel is what made us choose to stay here. We booked a room at the guesthouse hotel long beach through expedia.com. Then we stumbled onto the reviews and were horrified. But to our great delight the reviews were blown way out of proportion. The hotel was a little dated, but clean. The continental breakfast was fantastic, the most variety offered(for a continental breakfast)that I’ve seen . The staff was very friendly and helpful. We were going on a cruise and needed to park our car. The Guesthouse hotel allowed us to leave our car during the duration of our cruise without charge. The hotel even provided shuttle service to and from the ship. We would encourage anyone to visit the Guesthouse Hotel Long Beach, We certainly will be visiting again. Thanks Guesthouse for making our cruise worry free.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

saving a few bucks by staying at the Guesthouse Hotel Long beach. You can leave your car at the hotel while you sail on your cruise. park for free and sail worry free.

Nice Hotel to Save Money At

The Guesthouse is clean and conveniently located. They have shuttle service to LGB and downtown. They also have a wonderful continental breakfast and a nice swimming pool. The staff is friendly and helpful. We had a room with bunkbeds for my son. If you are looking to save money at a decent hotel with some amenities, this is a great hotel.

Great location for CSULB parents

This hotel was close to the university and a good value. The morning breakfast was great.
