excellent!

after an overbooking sent to us to a substandard sister hotel for half our stay, the Pier 5 stepped up and made us very comfortable. it was safer, nicer, and overall a wonderful stay.

Slightly let down...

Not thrilled, to say the least. From what we saw online, the hotel looked very modern, updated, and definitely on the swanky side...and the nightly rate reflected those qualities. Considering that the other hotels owned by this group are pretty reputable, I thought it was a sure bet. However, it was just OK. Service was not fabulous. Elevator broken the entire two days we stayed. Room pretty clean looking. I will say that it was a great location, close to the Harbor, Fells, Power Plant, etc. and definitely seemed like a safe area. However, there are many, many more hotels that are close by where I am sure we could have gotten a better bang for our buck.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Shopping, Inner Harbor, Fell’s Point, good restaurants (both local and chain, ie Oceannaire, Roy’s). Good location for families or young adults, as the Aquarium is adjacent to the hotel and nightlife is right at your doorstep.

Some Improvement Needed

We enjoyed our stay. The only thing we didn’t like was that we had to pay for the kids to watch cartoons on TV. Pretty much everything was pay per view. With a hotel that nice, at least the local station and/or basic cable should be complimentary.

Would go back

The only draw back is that room service came when we were not ready and asked them to come back and they never did. We had to call the front desk. They never replenished the water nor did we have drinking cups. Overall the hotel was nice and we would stay there again

Loud Doors

It was a nice place in a good location, but if you want to sleep past 830 forget about it. The room doors slam very hard and sound like a bomb going off in your room. One night the idiots next door had a party until about 4 am with the door opening and closing, so i wasnt happy that night.

Great hotel except...

This was a great hotel, great location, but... My necklace was stolen. Yes, I should have used the safe, but I was planning on wearing it. It fell off my neck and I put it up on a shelf. It was my mother’s day gift just a couple of weeks before. My daughter is one. She loved the hotel too by the way and they let us use a pack-in-play free of charge.

Traveler's tip on recreational activities

The National Aquarium was awesome. ESPN Zone food was not so good.

Great location, great service, nice amenities

Some of the perks aren’t all they’re cracked up to be online (Crabby Hour, coupons, etc), but this is a great hotel. Service is very friendly. You’re within walking distance to almost everything, so park in the deck ($20 a day) as it is the cheapest option and walk everywhere to stay out of traffic. We’ll definitely be going back to Baltimore and will seriously consider Pier 5. As a negative, it rained a ton on our last day and there were TONS of leaks in the roof of the hotel. None in our room, but the lobby was filled with buckets which was a bit disappointing considering the price we paid.

Pier 5 - Great place for a getta away or with your family.

I traveled with my wife and 3 kids all under 9. Plenty of space and activities within hotel were great. I recommend this to anyone and would definitely stay here again.

Great location and customer sevice

The location of the hotel is great. Two excellent high end restaurants. The staff were great, the room very clean and comfortable but we had the unpleasant experience of waking to the voices of the people in the next room at 2.30 am.

Great design

On a recent trip to the Inner Harbor my daughter and I stayed at the Pier 5. The interior design of the hotel is quite funky - lots of purple and gold. Very fun! Room was comfortable, except the heater fan was VERY LOUD...other than that, the hotel was quite nice. Buffet breakfast was certainly better than the typical continental fare offered most places.

Like to go back

One issue I had was at 5am a garbage truck or delivery trucks could be heard in my room backing up with the loud beeping sound that woke me up.

Cool and modern hotel

My wife and I were very impressed with this hotel. Good value for the money for this location. The only negative is the lack of free parking.

For the price of the Hotel it should include breakfast.

They charged $10.00 for Continental Breakfast even for minors, my grand daughter is 6 years old, how much can she eat, and you do not have any other choices for children, and if you want from a menu is over $14.00 per item.

Wonderful and convienent

The Pier 5 Hotel was very nice. The rooms were large and very nicely decorated. The convience to the inner harbor was great. I intend to use this hotel whenever visiting baltimore.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

There are so many things to do in baltimore. The ride the duck tour is great for children and adults alike. Just riding the water taxis in the harbor is grat fun. you can use them all day long.

A good place to stay in the Inner Harbor

The location of the hotel was excellent if you want to enjoy the inner harbor area of Baltimore. It was within easy walking distance of Fells Point, Camden Yards, and points in between. The hotel itself was comfortable. We had a nice sized room with a king bed. Front desk staff was very helpful. The maid service was adequate. Some dirty dishes were left in our room on two days, but otherwise the room was neat and clean. The breakfast in the hotel was nothing special. After the first day, we went elsewhere to eat. Overall, I would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to stay in relative comfort in the inner harbor area. I rarely give perfect scores for anything, so 4 is pretty good in my book.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Neat little bars and taverns in Fells Point. Convenient to Camden Yards. The water taxi is worth taking to Fort McHenry and other points of interest (one price and ride all day). The ships of the Maritime Museum where very interesting. We didn’t go int he National Aquarium, but it seemed pretty popular. Dozens of restaurants give plenty of variety for eating.

The best hotel on the harbor

Being we had never been to Baltimore before this place couldn’t have been any better. Our room looked over the harbor and was so close to everything!

Silly fee

The hotel is fine. The only negative is the silly "destination fee." This is not an optional fee, but it is an add on for each night of the stay. I believe this should simply be added to the cost of the room.

Baltimore Harbor Gem

The Pier 5 Hotel is right in the middle of the action in Baltimore. Park your car and walk around the rest of the town. Little Italy is a stone’s throw away, and all of the tourist attractions of the city are a short walk or water taxi away. The staff was friendly, the room was clean and quiet, and the access to the city was wonderful. Water views, a relaxed atmosphere in the middle of a large city, good restaurants both on site and close by...it’s a great city getaway spot!

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Little Italy and its fine restaurants are a three minute walk away. Pazo, a Spanish restaurant, is ten minutes away, and it is a chic, fun, and tasty night spot.

Disappointing

Very disappointing for the price. One day, Finally had to ask to have our room cleaned at 4:30. Little things--like not leaving any caffeinated coffee. Seemed understaffed; staff was not content--overheard many heated exchanges between staff members. Definitely not good value.
