Worst Condo I ever stayed in.

Location is close to nice hotels/condos, shops & restaurants. Now the bad - and to be fair I must tell you that each condo is individually owned and maintained so If they try to put you in #212, run like the dickens. Holes in the walls filled with overstuffed plaster and no paint over patches. There is filthy black carpeting that used to be beige and 16 holes or slits in the kitchen linoleum. Rooms are very noisy, with people talking in the hallway outside the rooms, and garbage trucks, lawn equipment, etc. We went in November 2009 and the lack of A/C was stifling even that late in the year, so you had to have your windows open. Says it sleeps 4-6 but has one bed and two towels. No washer/dryer. The dishwasher flooded the kitchen when I turned it on. Sink has no plug or dishpan so could not wash dishes (which were so minimum you had to wash each piece after using.) Furniture was rickety, old, unmatched and mostly plastic. Many of the electrical outlets did not work. The front desk staff during check-in gave no indication of any amenities, just gave a lecture on how if they even "suspect" you of smoking, even on the lanai, gardens or lawn, they will add $450. to your bill. When I said we didn’t smoke, they told us to tell them if we "suspect" anyone else of smoking so they could add it to THEIR bill. Note also that they add $8./day to your bill for parking a rental car. Overall, the absolute worst condo room I’ve ever seen. Do NOT accept room 212!

Make sure you stop at all the small farmer’s markets for some great deals on beachwear, towels, tee shirts, jewelry, fruits & veggies, and all sorts of other things. Also book tours from the advertisements in the free booklets, rather than from the hotels who charge more and take a cut.

We had a good time at Paki Maui

My husband and I took our 5 and seven year old for a week vacation at the Paki Maui. We had a one bedroom, which was a good size for the 4 of us. The full kitchen was a money saver. The pool/grill area was VERY nice and we used it every night. The barrier reef outside the hotel accommodated some amazing up close and personal experiences for us with the tide pools throughout the days, not to mention the monk seal and sea turtle that came up! It’s a wonderful location and the staff was very nice. Try Bad A** Coffee down the street, "Kula Pie" was my favorite. That was also where the closest ATM was located.

Don’t miss Ioa Valley! I have been to Maui 3 times but this time was the first that I made it to the valley. It is worth the drive even if you have no other reason to go through Wailuku. Kapalua was the best kid friendly beach/swimming area. stock up on everything at walmart in Kahalui before you head to this side of the island, they have the BEST prices on the island.

Nice condo for the price

The Aston Paki Maui is a great place to stay. The grounds are well kept, the staff is nice and friendly and the beach front is amazing. There are plenty of chairs and lounges to sit on that face the ocean. The pool area is a little small, but it’s clean and kept nice. Although my condo didn’t face the ocean, it still had a nice view of the courtyard that had a beautiful waterfall with a koi pond and lush plant life. It’s also centrally located and close to Whaler’s Village and Lahaina. I was on a budget and was pleasantly surprised that it was a nice sized condo. It was recommended by an Expedia Customer Service rep and I was very happy with the accomodations. I would definitely stay there again.

Nerver Again

When we checked in and went to the room it had a musty odor. When we pulled the linens back on the bed it was clean but we had to change it anyhow because the sofabed had not been changed. The sofa had trash under it that you could see when you pulled it out. They gladly gave us clean bedding so we did it ourselves. The next day there was no service. I spoke to the clerk and she said she would take care of it so there was service provided. In fact it was done on a daily basis(trash and clean towels were provided) No air conditioner. Dirty carpets. This was my first trip to Hawaii and I will return but not to this hotel /timeshare.

Don’t buy a lot of souviners because they charge a lot for overweight luggage

GREAT OCEAN SUNSET VIEWS!!

This is the 2nd time we have stayed at this location. We love the close to ocean rooms, the great sinsets, as well as the pool, spa, and BBQ area. You don’t need to walk long distances from your car to the building. The staff is friendly and willing to please. A great experience and we will return again.

Traveler's tip on recreational activities

We love the Pacific Whale Foundation cruises. The snorkel cruises as well as the sunset cruise is great. The people are knowledgeable, fun, and friendly. A great source of information as well as good food. A bargain for what you get!

room 114 review

no a/c, which luckily turned out ok. no exhaust fan in the toilet. hard tile floors with no rugs or comfort at all. the bed was comfortable though. the room did not look like the pictures. the garden view was nice.

Traveler's tip on recreational activities

black rock had the best snorkeling i found. even compared to Molokini.

Have low expectations

The hotel is well located if you want a quite place on the touristy side of the island. It has no beach but you can walk to Kaanapali if you want overpriced kitsch. The staff is nice but the manager is rude, unhelpful and otherwise useless. The dishwasher was broke on arrival and was never fixed during the nine days we were there. His response was that not every unit has a dishwasher anyways... Bull! I had trouble with the internet; no help. Apparently, he was hired for his expert ability to blow off people with complaints. Other than that, great place.

Traveler's tip on dining

I was on Maui 24 years ago and loved it. Its still worth seeing but today there’s 10 times as many people. Our highlight was a surprise. We ate our last night at Mamas (Paia - 10 minutes from the airport) and had the best meal of our lives. Dinner, drinks, desert and tip ran the four of us $270!!! But believe it or not, it was worth every penny. We had ono, ahi, shrimp and lamb tenderloin. All were unbelievable. We did the Black Pearl for desert... my mouth is watering just thinking about it.

Family Vacation 2009

Our room had a wonderful view. The rooms were big and comfortable. We had daily room clean up. The area was very nice, peaceful and safe. We will definitely go back to Paki Maui soon.

Cooking meals cost just as much as eating out. Save your time and effort and eat at local places.

so so

im between yes and no to recommending it for other people to stay at this hotel. first of all, there was only one elevator located by the lobby and our room was on the top floor.. very end of one side. there were stairs but it was hard to cArry our stuff up n down the stairs. elevator was too far. pretty goog view though if you get the garden view. mountains and clear skies. loved that! restroom needs exhaust. and room needs a/c. overall, it was just ok.

A little piece of tropical heaven!

I would soooooo recommend staying at this lovely little place. It is nothing fancy, but was such a great value! we cooked dinner a couple of nights (there is a little fish market right across the street!) It was clean, and we decided to upgrade to an ocean view, wow was that the best idea! We fell asleep to the sound of the ocean every night and woke up to it every morning. Some nice little snorkling right there too, good for kids. A little more quiet than being in the heart of Lahina.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

a few thing to watch though parking isnt free like it said and they hold more on your card then they say. and that can hurt with some of your fun.

Affordable and friendly; will go back

We loved the view from our ocean front room. The staff was pleasant and very helpful. The garden area is well kept and fun to look for geckos. The BBQ area at the pool is very nice. Whole building a little worn, but really not too bad. Loved the location and felt safe. Also we felt it was very affordable, esp considering ocean front! We will go back!

A great hotel for a good price

We were very satisfied with our stay in Paki Maui. I was a little bit hesitant after reading some of the reviews, but I did not have any problems during our stay. The customer service people/ front desk were always friendly and helpful. The room was big enough for two people, clean and nicely decorated. There is no beach directly in front of the hotel but there are many choices in a walking distance or a short drive if you prefer. Not a big deal at all if you have a rental car! All in all, a great place to stay!

Traveler's tip on dining

Two awesome places I would recommend to eat at" Fish Market across the street- Ahi Tuna sandwich is a killer!, and Soup Nutz about 5 minutes walk away from the hotel in a small shopping center- a nice and very cozy restaurant/ bar. The grocery stores are in a walking distance- be prepared to pay way too much for food here!!!!

SO IMPRESSED

Our room was ocean front and about 25 feet from the ocean edge, from our balcony we could sit out at the table and eat and watch whales and dolphins. IT WAS AWESOME! The rooms were very clean and very nice size with a fold out couch. We could not have asked for anything more

not satisfied

we went over for my 50th birthday, and i called ahead and asked for an updated room. we did not get this. we actually got a room on the 1st floor. garden, on one side but parking lot with lots of people traffic on our bedroom side. they almost towed our car because the front desk did not give us a permit to park there, until we had gotten a note the next morning. no air conditioning. the room reminded me of a very old apartment.

Traveler's tip

we spent all day out and dinner out as well even though we had a full kitchen.

GOING BACK, BUT NOT STAYING AT THIS HOTEL.

Great trip to Maui, hotel was the only let down. Booked 3 weeks before trip, called hotel to make sure ocean view was available and ask for upper floor, was told no problem, called 2 days before to double check and was told "NO PROBLEM". Got there and was on third floor looking out over the roof of a !! VERY !! run down old hotel to see the ocean. Kitchen was infested with tiny ants, talked to many people at the pool and they said they had the same problem with ants. Did not complain about room since I had already ask twice and was told no problem. We made the best of it and enjoyed our trip to MAUI.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

We booked a couple of trips online before our trip. DO NOT DO THAT !! We found many things were cheaper than the online prices and some would cut the price if you were standing right in front of them. We rented a very nice Volo Xc60 from hertz and explored Maui, some roads are very narrow, but to see the real Maui get out of town. STAR MARKETS are clean and friendly.

good view, good whale watching

We very much liked the Paki Maui. Even though I only rate it as a 3 (or really more like 2.5), I would stay there again. We stayed in a 2-bedroom, 2 bath rental unit (3rd floor, ocean front). The view was excellent and the whale watching directly from our balcony was absolutely great. The unit was very clean, but everything was rather worn. The staff was pleasant, but not particularly helpful. (When an upstairs bathroom leaked, and we asked about it, they didn’t send any one to mop up the floor in our unit.) Although that sounds like a lot of complaints, we did like the place. I felt safe there. The interior courtyard garden is beautiful. The layout was good, view excellent, kitchen dishware and utensils fully adequate, furniture comfortable, the free in-room safe convenient and helpful, pool towels provided, beach chairs provided, beach shower available, good stairs to access the beach. The beach is small and there is a coral wall just offshore that is hard to get over for more snorkeling. But there is plenty of walk-to snorkeling from nearby public beaches. On the whole, a good place, especially for a family.

Great location for cost

We received an upgrade to a larger room/better view which was a plus. This hotel is close to Lahaina for good restaurants, close to Black Rock for excellent snorkeling, and right on the beach. The parking fee is reasonable, and we’d stay here again definitely.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

When people tell you to take the "seasick pills" if you’re going on a fishing/ whale watching trip, believe them!

My fifth stay, and counting....

For those of you who arent into big expensive all inclusive resorts, Paki Maui is the way to go. It’s in a great location (about 5 minutes from Kaanapali & Whalers Vilage, about 15 min from Lahaina), has a nice ocean front, and fully equipped condos for a relaxed, quiet stay. The restaurants right across the street are probably the best on the northwest, and the hotel service is excellent. What you have to keep in mind is that there is no air conditioning--so if you go in the height of summer be prepared to be warm. (We always go in the fall/winter seasons, and its perfect) Also, be sure if you book an oceanfront room thru expedia, call the hotel directly to ensure you get a room front and center, sometimes you get stuck with a room towards the end and its only a partial ocean view, which is not nearly as nice. When my husband and I go back to Maui, we wouldn’t even think about staying anywhere else!

Traveler's tip on dining

Farmer’s market, Okazuya, and Fish Market in Honokowai on Lower Honoapiilani are all great, as well as Sansei sushi in Kapalua

It was okay

This hotel is right next to a very loud road. If you stay here request do be as far from the road as possible or you will not sleep. The staff did move us after we requested a different room.

great honeymoon for not a ton of money

The room was basic and the furniture was old and kinda threadbare but it was very clean. The kitchen was great and very useful. the bed was super hard for us but that may just be us.they have no air conditioning but the trade winds kept us comfy except for one warm night. No major issues. We had an amazing time!!

Traveler's tip on dining

Avoid Safeway and Star Market....gross, food looks iffy, it smells. Lahaina Farms is the way to go even if it is pricey! Eat at The Melting Pot fondue resturant....so fun and soo good!
