Very Nice

The rooms are comfortable, grounds are maintained to the high Disney standards. Service was top notch. On-site bus and boat service to the nearby attractions make this a very convenient place to stay.

Tips to make your travel easier

We made our reservation too late to take advantage of the free luggage transfer by the magical bus so we had to lug all the suitcases through the airport only to find out that our airlines would not participate in this service anyway. Also our room was a little ways from the lobby and since we arrived late at night we had to lug all the stuff again to the room or wait for the hotel staff. Try to arrive earlier in the day and this will not be a problem. Take advantage of the great pool near your room not the one with services but be sure to take towels none are at the pool. Also we were under the impression that the cups you purchase there for refill are good at the amusement parks...they are not but still a good deal for the resort

October was great and the parks are not crowded.

Classic WDW style accommodations always great!

Excellent is the best way to describe a Walt Disney World resort. We were treated like the most important people there by the staff. Room was clean, comfortable and well appointed. Orleans themed decor and landscaping was great...no one does it like Disney!!!

Disneyworld orlando

This hotel provided easy access to all the DW parks by shuttle bus or a wonderful ferry boat ride to downtown. The staff was pleasant and helpful. Our room was cleaned daily. The only down part was having two double beds. We enjoyed the beautiful grounds and fun swimming pool for kids. We would return again.

October was agreat time to go to Disneyworld. We would use our Fastpass option & while waiting for our assigned time we could wait in line to ride the ride and then get off to ride it with our Fastpass. It was great!

Good and Bad

This is a very nice well kept facility with beautiful walking areas, nice swimming pools and convient to restaurants and gift shop. It took two returns to the front desk to get a room with a short walk from our car to the room. Many rooms are situated far from the parking places but not a problem if you arrive by airplane then shuttle bus and do not have a car as the porters will take you and your luggage from the registration desk to your room by electric cart. The bedding was not the most comfortable, and the walls pass a lot of noise from your neighbors. All in all it is a nice place with free boat rides to Downtown Disney and busses to all other resorts and parks

PO Riverside in October

I chose the Riverside mostly because of the favorable reviews and its smaller size and because one reviewer pointed out the great landscaping. It did deliver all that and it was very very quiet. However, you are paying for all the "Disney". There is a lot you get for "free". The boat ride to Downtown Disney is wonderful the first night you are there. The walking paths and landscaping rival many arboretums. You can sit and enjoy the "river" view. The bus service to all the Parks is fantastic. I dont’ think we waited more than 10 minutes. The room itself is nothing special, in fact it is quite small. The teeny bathroom could use some updating. But everything within the room is great quality, from the pedistal sinks to the comfortable beds. The maid left us cute towel animals. We’d rented a car, and the parking lot was very close to our building. This makes a difference when you’ve been on your feet all day and you don’t want to traipse another mile to your room. I recommend this hotel, but the price is quite steep if you are expecting a huge room.

The rooms have small refrigerators. The first day, we found a grocery store and shopped for snacks, water, drinks, fruit and most importantly, breakfast food. We ate breakfast in the room and brought water to the parks. Since we only ate one meal a day "out" or in the Parks, we saved a lot of money.

Riverside

This was a great hotel especially if you have kids. There is so much for them to do here. This is one of the larger resorts at Disney. It offers more entertainment then most of the others. The resort sits on a large piece of property and the amenaties are spread out throughout the property. If you love to walk this is the place for you. For those who don’t, it is a long walk from the room to the hotel lobby where the game room and food court was. The resort offers alot of food options and for picky eaters it is wonderful. The only thing I did not like were the beds in our room as they were too small and not very comfortable. It was only my husband and I this time. However, next time I will book this hotel and bring my children and grandchild along.

The Polyanesian Resorts Lauia: Great bang for your buck. Show was great it offered good music, comedy, and a spectetcular dance show. Favorite was the fire handler. Food was plentiful and excellent.

Wouldn’t pay full price

Port Orleans Riverside was a nice hotel, but not worth advertised Disney rate. I was attending a wedding at Disney and the advertised rate was 40% higher than the Expedia rate. The signage around the property was very lacking - it was hard to find our room and even harder to find the main lobby while walking through the resort. The room was nice, but the bed was quite hard and the sheets were very thin. This hotel is a "moderate" resort according to Disney but I have had more luxurious towels and sheets at Hampton Inns. The mini-fridge was a great addition to the room. Also the entertainment in the hotel lounge was fantastic! Also this hotel has no elevators in some buildings and no balconies. OVerall it’s a nice hotel but not worth the Disney price tag.

Lovely moderate priced option in Disney

Lovely grounds, water features, and two pools make this moderate priced Disney "hotel" worth trying. The dining hall was often crowded but we were always able to find a seat indoors or outside. Purchasing the refillable drinking mug helped us save money on beverages. There is always a lively group in the piano bar with everyone singning along. Disney transportation is excellent and we never waited for more than ten minutes to get to a Park or back to t he hotel. The buildings are spread out and since we have a family member who has difficulty walking we requested a bulding close to the main building and they accommodated our request. Staff was pleasant and the room was clean and comfortable.

A Good Standby

Ever-reliable Disney Moderate Resorts provide comfort and convenience, at a reasonable price. In truth, I prefer them to the Deluxe Resorts which usually consist of a huge tower rather than the quaint, sprawling grounds you get with the moderates. Disney transportation is the bonus here, with being able to park your car and never give it a second thought throughout your stay. However, the slight upgrade charge to get a waterfront room is worth it, since they put you more central to the main pool, food court and transportation in general.

If you have children who are even remotely interested in the Disney characters, the character dining is worth the price of admission. We’ve never been disappointed with the food quality, and the character interaction is more immersive than the hit-and-miss you get at the theme parks.

Disney quality and relaxing atmosphere

Unlike some of the other hotel options on Disney property, the Port Orleans complex is surprisingly relaxing. The buildings are spread out and well-landscaped, giving guests plenty of breathing room. The theming is fun without being over the top and you really can imagine being along one of the great Southern rivers. Bus service is convenient to the sights and venues that are available on property.

Not impressed with front desk service

We had never been to Disney World and my daughter and I had to fly in a day before my husband. Due to delayed flights, we arrived at the hotel around 10:30 p.m. - it was dark and we did not know where we were or how to get information. The concierge was closed and there were 2 people at the front desk. They were not very helpful and seemed to just want to check us in and be done with us. We were left to wander the grounds alone with our bags in the rain trying to find our room. We had to find out about the park times and bus service by ourselves to be ready for the next day. It was a miserable evening.

Fall was a perfect time to go - no crowds.

Port Orleans Riverside

This is a great facility. We had a wonderful time. We stayed in the Aligator Bayou section and only had a five minute walk to the lobby or bus stop.

DISNEY WORLD PORT ORLEANS HOTEL

This is not the first time we have stayed at this hotel. We first started staying here when it was Dixie Landings. I have stayed at several of the other Disney hotels over the years (29 visits) and we keep coming back to this hotel. We love the location and the price. It is a nice moderately priced hotel. The rooms are nice and well maintained. The people who work here could not be nicer. When we go to the lobby someone opens the door for us and greets us with a smile. The facility overall is well maintained. Really if you stay at any of the hotels within the park you cannot beat the value. There is a Disney hotel for every budget.

Since we have been to the park so many times (29) we now try visit when something special is going on within the park. Our new favorite time to visit is the International Wine and Food Festival. This is why we visited this time. We plan our visit around who is appearing for a cooking demonstration and the concert schedule. The food is great. You sample all types of food. I discovered dishes I would never have tried otherwise. The cooking demonstrations are super. You get a signed cookbook, bottle of wine, special tote bag and a meal, all for one reasonable price. One year I had the pleasure of spending time after the domonstration with one of the chefs. He was very nice and he shared some of his special spices with me so I could make his dishes at home. The concerts are great. This year we saw Kool and the Gang and Spyro Gyra. The previous time we saw Jon Secada and Spro Gyra. These concerts are free and you can go to as many performances as you like. Each day you have at least 2 to 3 performances by the featured performer. I highly recommend this event. We will go back again.

"Quality resort"

We enjoyed our stay at Disney’s Port Orleans Riverside Resort. The staff was friendly and helpful. Our room was clean and well-maintained. The dining options at the resort were very reasonable. We would certainly return to this resort on a future Disney Vacation.

Great Couples Hotel

We were looking for a romantic hotel in the Disney park at an affordable price. And that is exactly what we got. And the staff was great.

Ask for a room close to the dining hall. Some of the rooms can be a 15 minute walk away.

Great Themed Resort

The Port Orleans Riverside is a great themed Disney resort. It is located in a heavily wooded area, and our room was very quiet. Just off the lobby, there is a lounge with a fun piano act each night we were there. The only downside to this hotel is the amount of walking. From the main building to our room was 5-7 minutes of brisk walking. Some rooms were even further. Since it is a large hotel, the Disney Buses returning from Magic Kingdom were extremely full. We decided to take the French Quarter bus and walk over to the Riverside. A nice carriage path connects the two hotels.

Great Stay

My 8 year old daughter and I stayed at the Port Orleans Riverside for 4 nights this Oct. The room was spacious for 2, clean and quiet. The service was definitely Disney - great. The main pool was clean with lifeguards and my daughter had a blast. There are fishing pole and boat and carriage rental. The shuttle service to the parks was great, except for one day when we had to wait probably 40 minutes for a bus to Animal Kingdom. The bus was so crowded that they refused to stop at other stops after picking up from our location. Except for that, we waited an average of 10 minutes for buses going to the different parks.

Take the resort boat ride to Downtown Disney for dinner, but make reservations in advance, if possible. The ride is relaxing and takes only about 20 minutes.

Great Location

Our family of 3 travels to Disney each year at we always stay at Port Orleans-Riverside. We love the free boat ride from the hotel to downtown Disney. We also enjoy the small pools they have close to the rooms. It’s great to be able to walk out of your room and be at a quiet pool. The only negatives I would say are these: 1) the hotel is getting old and the carpeting is worn and dated. We had an ugly red stain in ours 2) our ceiling fan was broken by the maid the first day and wasn’t replaced. 3) we didn’t get replacements of coffee and soaps each day, only every other, so don’t count on those.

Traveler's tip on shopping

As I mentioned above, this hotel is awesome for those who want to spend time in Downtown Disney. You can either take the Disney busses, or take the more relaxing and leisurely boat ride that Port Orleans offers. I know I would miss that if I stayed at any other Disney property.

Disney moderate hotel

Was our first time at Port Orleans. Very pleasant stay during off-peak time (late September). Rooms were not very large, but were clean and had good character. Two pedestal sinks stood outside the commode and shower. Even in September, Orlando can be very humid. We normally don’t use the A/C much, but you really had to turn the A/C on high to avoid a musty, damp feel to the room. A very busy food court is convenient for breakfast, but expect prices to be at theme park levels. The pools were in great shape not crowded. A surrey ride looks like a lot of fun, but ends up being much harder to pedal over the rolling property than it looks! I’ve stayed in Disney’s Coronado Springs in the past, and thought this was similar in quality. However, I felt a slower, more relaxed pace at Port Orleans. I would go back again, but will likely try out a different Disney property.

We stayed at the Port Orleans Riverside resort. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The room was very nice and clean. It was close to the launch shuttle to Downtown Disney and we used it nearly every day.

Don’t wait for a bus to the parks, you might wait for 30 minutes or more.

We have stayed here about 20 times in the past and the sevice and the food is the worse we have ever seen.We would never stay there again and we are also going to write to disney and complain.
