Unbelievable

Met and exceeded expectations in every way shape and form. Be sure to get a room that faces the open area for the animals. The fast service restaurant in the hotel was especially nice to have for a reasonably priced (and GOOD) breakfast before heading off to the park.

Eat breakfast in the fast service restuarant there. Good food, reasonable price.

Excellent for kids

That was probably the best option I made to spend vacation with my wife and kid. The hotel has 3 restaurant options, which is great for either fast meals (Mara) or fency dinner. Staff is excellent and always willing to help.

Besides Disney’s parks and water parks, take the kids to Disney Quest.

Just OK

The hotel has nice ambiance but it is not really comparable to a traditional resort hotel. This hotel would really rate about 3 &1/2 stars. Much to pricey for what you get and it’s a 20-30 minute bus ride to the Magic Kingdom. Food was ok. At in the buffet the first night. $30.00 for adults and $13.00 fo a 3 year old. Still beats the regular restaurant where entrees were 30 to 60 dollars. Much to pricey for a kids vacation!!!

Escape from the madness

This hotel was so beautiful, quiet, and well-run. It was a wonderful escape from the crowds at the parks. Watching the animals from the balcony in the morning was amazing, though the "savanna" was little more then the grassy space between buildings. The pool was awesome, warm and shallow with a great waterslide- both relaxing and excellant for kids. Lots of shaded lounge chairs. The waterslide closes at 8, after which the pool is a bit more adult-oriented. The only downside was that this is a very large property, and it was definately a schlep from our room to the lobby and pool (about five minutes at a brisk walk.) Parking wa convenient, though if you’re flying in, it’s probably best to use the free bus services. Overall, worth the money for a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

We returned to the lodge and enjoyed the pool during the heat of mid-day. Would try and schedule one day to take advantage of the lodge’s activities and ammenities. The cafeteria-style restaurant near the pool was reasonably-priced and uncrowded - great for kids- while the fine restaurant (Jima?) had kids’ menus and no qualms with adults splitting a large entree.

Animal Kingdom Lodge was amazing

My 15 year old daughter and I traveled to Disney World recently and she picked which disney resort that we would stay at and she wanted to stay at the Animal Kingdom Lodge. We had an amazing time and the resort was incredible. We could see giraffes and zebras and other animals from our room balcony. The grounds were beautiful and the pool area and slide were great! The resort staff were wonderful and so was the service. We had such a good time and we would definetly stay there again. My daughter didn’t want to leave! As far as eating there, at the Lodge, the Mara Restaurant was a great place to grab breakfast in the mornings or a casual lunch or dinner later in the day. We would recommend the Animal Kingdom Lodge to anyone staying at Disney World.

We got a great room rate for the Animal Kingdom Lodge thru Expedia.com. It was very easy to make the reservation and everything was taken care of. Everything went very smooth and we look forward to staying there again.

One of a kind!

All I can say about this hotel is "wow"! You really do feel like you’re in Africa. I have to give Disney a lot of credit. Let’s face it, sometimes Disney can go overboard with a theme. But AKL felt more authentic than I expected. I could spends days out by the pool, taking in all the natural splendor. Very subdued. Although, I have to admit, I was disappointed in my "Savannah view" room. I only saw one animal in two days outside of my window (and it had it’s back to me, asleep). Not all views are created equal. Next time I will request a different wing. But, hanging out by the pool completely made up for the lack of view.

Traveler's tip on dining

Don’t miss the breakfast buffet at Boma! Make reservations in advance.

Beautiful Hotel,

This hotel I’m sure is geared towards children, which I have, but I could clearly see this also being a great hotels for adults on vacation as well. It was beautiful with great ammenities, I think it was one of the best hotels I have ever stayed at!! It really was wonderful.

Everything we dreamed of

This hotel was perfect. We had a savannah view room and loved being able to walk out on our bslcony and see animals. We spent an entire afternoon exploring the resort.

We loved this hotel

The hotel is beautiful - wonderful artwork everywhere, lots of little out of the way spots to relax or watch animals on the savannah and a really nice pool area. There were also activities like African storytelling or viewing animals with night vision glasses. But it was the staff who made it truly special - from the desk staff to our waiter at Boma to Elizabeth in housekeeping - they made our stay "magical."

Relax and enjoy the Savana

Live in the area, however 3 days at the Animal Kingdom Lodge took me away from it all to a very relaxing and surreal world.

The best choice among all other disney resorts

we stayed at jamba house, animal kingdom lodge for three nights. our room overlooks the safari and it was such a nice view. we are very satisfied with this resort. the only complaint is the room wasn’t too clean, there were some trash as we noticed right after we checked in the room and the coffee maker was full of previously-brewed-days-old coffee. The good thing is the staff took care of it and gave us a new coffee maker. overall, we like this resort a lot and will recommend it to anyone.

Traveler's tip

always stay in disney resort.

Unique Lodging

We live near Disneyland Resort and this has it beat! Not just your typical hotel. All the amenities you would expect from a fine resort with a few twists. The beautiful African decor stretches from the lobby to the rooms. We walked into our Serengeti view room and immediately saw, among other animals, a giraffe outside out balcony. We are foodies and dining at Jiko was a treat. The chef is fabulous. We had the ostrich appetizer, filet mignon, lamb and halibut. Each dish was prepared with a touch of Africa. Our teenagers enjoyed the The Mara for breakfast which is a self serve cafeteria type of restaurant. Transportation to all the attractions was quick and convenient. Other resorts might be more centrally located, but for the atmosphere and elegance we would stay here again.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Be sure to request a Serengeti room where the animals actually graze near. The animals seem to have preferred areas and not all rooms have close views.

Family fantasy, Loved It!

We walked in and were immediately amazed and excited. Our room got up graded to a two room suite. We had three rooms for all the family. Everyone loved their rooms, they were clean, well stocked, and roomy. There were several areas where the animals could be seen, even night googles (so cool!). The staff were friendly and helpful. The variety of dining choices really made things so nice for our family of 12. Can’t say anything negative, it just wasn’t anything but above our expectations!!

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Give yourself at least 4 full days. Get the hopper passes and if possible go in Sept. there are practically no lines.

Animal Kingdom Lodge

What an amazing hotel. The artistry and architecture and the beauty of seeing animals up close were memorable for us. I felt as if the animals were showcased as "stars".

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

Bring your own food if you can. Pack a box of cereal and Parmalat. Bring trail mix and food bars. You can save a lot because eating is expensive in Disney. Consider the meal plan too.

Disney animal magic

This is a beautiful resort, with plenty of places to eat and things to do. The only thing lacking are the high end beds and bedding (which they do try to sell you)!

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Try to enjoy the resort, the pool, the spa and the animals. Only go to the parks every other day.

Loved it !!!!

Normally we stay at a moderate hotel in Disney, but we wanted to try a deluxe. So glad we did. We had a savannah view room, so we saw animals out our balcony, nice. The lobby was beautiful. Pool was big. They had alot of activities for the children, couldn’t get to it all. We had club level, recommend it cuz you get sodas, waters, beer, food for FREE! Which helps in disney since everything is expensive. When we come back to disney we will be staying here.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

Get the club level, might be more money, but it’s worth it. Free everthing, have snacks through out the day, breakfast, dinner appitizers with beer and wine. Dessert at nite. They treat you like your special and will help with any request.
