Perfect location!!
We were very happy with our stay at Splendid. It is located perfectly. Just a few blocks from the tower, and accross the street from a grocery store and a metro stop. It couldn’t have been more convenient. I am very happy we upgraded our room to get a balcony with a view of the tower. The ability to open those french doors to get in some fresh air was a must. I don’t think we would have been as happy without that ability or view. The only downsides were that the bed was really the only place to sit in the room and it was pretty uncomfortalbe and they only had CNN worldwide in English. It would have been nice to at least also get the BBC to break up the repetative stories. . We did not coose to eat the breakfast due to the cost so I cannot comment on the quality, The staff were all very friendly and extremely helpful! I would stay there again but may consider getting a suite for the additional room/ sitting area.
Head to the grocery stores to purchase any kind of beverage (pop, bottled water, juice), your breakfast foods, and snacks when you can. The beverages in Paris are about 3-4 times more expensive than I was used to. We also saved at least $20-30 per day eating breakfast this way. When you do eat your meals out, go with the ’fixed price’ menu. It always seemed to be the best deal.

Not impressed. It is good by its location near eiffel tower.
The hotel was hard to get to from the train station (Gare Du Nord). We traveled to Paris from London by train. We did not dine in the hotel The best thing about this hotel is the location near the Eiffel Tower. We could see the Eiffel Tower from the balcony of our room. The Hop On-Hop Off city bus stand is also near by. The rooms were small and clean but they need sprucing up. The carpet and the wall papers need replacing. In this age of internet services that are needed for almost all the travelers, the charges are high. we were given a small room the first night, but they did give us a somewhat larger room the last three nights. There is no concierge as such so the desk person gives you all the info. Over all a so-so hotel. It is a 2 star rather than 3 star.
The Hop On-Hop Off bus is a great way to travel. Also, the Metro trains are very good to go around the city.

Splendid Hotel,Paris
Great location,great staff,small by N/american standards but a real nice place with great corner cafes. Would return and choose this hotel.
