Close to King’s Island

We were pleased with the hotel and surroundings. It had a very nice pool--acceptable hot tub---nice game room and exercise center. One item that disappointed me was the transportation to the park. Since the King’s Island Resort isn’t actually associated with the park, the bus was not permitted up close. It was great that we didn’t have to pay to park, but we had to walk further to the pick up point than we would have if we just drove our own car. At the end of the day, the shorter walk would have been been appreciated.

Would Stay Again

The hotel wasn’t a bad hotel. The first night we stayed in one room and the bed was really hard. The next day after we got up, I went down and asked the receptionist if all of their beds were hard as a rock. They offered to give us another room to try out the bed, because we were ready to go home. My husband has back problems and can’t just sleep in any bed but I don’t. I too thought the first room’s bed was hard as a rock. We did try another room’s bed and it was much better so we finished our stay. I thought the staff handled our problem very well and was very satisfied. The sports bar was nice and the food was really good. The hotel was very close to King’s Island which was a plus.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

King’s Island is just down the road and The Beach Water Park is close by. There is also a lot of different dining options(ex: Ruby Tuesday, The Outback, Taco Bell, etc.) and a movie theatre close by.

Great for Kings Island visits.

The hotel has been around for a while but for the most part doesn’t show all of it’s age. If your just looking for a place to stay in the area you might find a better hotel but if your going to Kings Island it’s ideal. Onsite bar is a nice place to hang out and has good pizza. The bar has an outside deck. The indoor pool is very large and the warmest I’ve ever swam in. Large hot tub as well. Outdoor pool is average. The hotel complex is large with several separate buildings that are for the most part linked by indoor walkways. The hotel runs regular(15-20 minutes)free buses between hotel and Kings Island which saves $10 parking cost. Drivers offer park tips and are very friendly. Hotel offers discount park tickets. I find this hotel great for a family visiting Kings Island with a nice pool for the kids when the day is done, and an onsite bar for Mom and Dad. There is also a separate restaurant section as well. My only issue with my most recent visit was that the hotel was booked for conventions. Due to this the bar was closed to the public (2 nights out of a 3 night stay) which was disappointing for those who would like to stay on grounds and have a drink a the bar in the bar setting with the Pool table, games, TV’s and general atmosphere. It may be good business for the hotel to lease out the bar for a private event but leaves the other guests a little put out. Overall I’ve had a good experience(s) at this hotel.

Disappointed Hotel Stay

The location to the amusement park and the shuttle service offered were both assets. The bedding was also very comfortable. Things I was very upset about were: 1. Made reservations ahead for two rooms requesting that they be located together since I had children with me. This was not the case, one room was located in B building and one room was located in C building. 2. The one room the air conditioning didn’t work, and when we came back from the park my clothes were all wet because the rug was saturated with water leaking from the air conditioner unit where my luggage was in front of on the floor. 3. In one of the rooms when you took a shower the water would back up in the tub and not go down. The sink in the other room had trouble draining. 4. The front lobby employees at check in and check out were extremely unfriendly and very irritated when asked questions and did not want to be bothered. (Ignored while standing at the lobby counter while two of them had a conversation going on between them not in regard to work.)

Close to everything but showing its age

It was great that this property was so near to Kings Island and the other fun things to do in the area. The outdoor pool was great for the sunny days and the indoor pool was great for when it rained all day. The facility was showing its age, however. The tile in our shower was mildewed, and some of the railing on our balcony had damaged wood. Staff was nice.

The Free Shuttle Isn’t Worth It

We booked this hotel on our way home from a vacation elsewhere. The free shuttle to the Kings Island appealed to us, but we were soooo disappointed. There were three wet spots on our carpet. The bathroom was not clean, hair was everywhere. If we had not already paid through expedia.com we would have left. Look elsewhere, there are far nicer places in Blue Ash.

Great hotel next to Kings Island

This hotel is really close to King’s Island and a bargain compared the Great Wolf Lodge down the street. The hotel is older, but not in poor condition or dirty at all. The beds were comfortable and there were patios for most rooms. There service was great as well.

Traveler's tip on recreational activities

King’s island is right down the street. If you go to their website you can get discount tickets on line.

Better than expected

We enjoyed our stay the bus drivers are excellent and the rooms were cool and beds were great when you are exhausted. You had to work with the shower but it was great once you got it going. we will go back when we go to kings island again.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Remember the coupons the bus drivers give you and visit the zoo

Best way to stay near Kings Island and the Beach

This hotel has been recently up-dated and It led to a very enjoyable weekend for my family and me. Even though I only live 45 minutes from Kings Island I plan to stay overnight here whenever I go. It has a lot more to offer than the advertisement and reviews let on. Best kept secret in the Cincinnati Area.

Will Return Next Year

I go to Kings Island every year and this is the place that I stay. I love that they have the buses to transport people back and forth to the park. It saves money on parking. The only slight complaint that I have is the bathroom could have been a little cleaner...other than that it was a very nice stay.

AWESOME EXPERIENCE!!

WE LOVED OUR STAY AT THE KING’S ISLAND RESORT--THE ROOMS THAT HAVE JUST BEEN REMODELED WERE AWESOME!! THEY WERE CLEAN, SMELLED NICE, AND IN A GREAT LOCATION. WE LOVED THE SHUTTLE TO KING’S ISLAND--NO PARKING, OR TRYING TO GET OUT OF A BUSY LINE OF TRAFFIC--WE JUST GOT ON THE BUS AND THEY DROVE US RIGHT UP TO OUR DOOR!!!! I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS RESORT TO ANYONE!

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

THE RESORT HAD LOTS OF STUFF TO DO FOR THE KIDS (AND ADULTS TOO), THEY HAD AN INDOOR AND OUTDOOR POOL, ARCADE, AND VOLLEYBALL AREA/PICNIC AREA. LOTS OF STUFF TO DO WHILE AT THE RESORT.

Good Hotel, Great Location

The Kings Island Hotel is a bit dated, but the room my wife and I stayed in was very spacious with a king bed and a sofa sleeper. They have an indoor pool that is open from 6 a.m.-midnight, and an outdoor pool that closes at dark. After a long day at Kings Island, we visited the restaurant/bar "Coasters". The service was decent at best, and the food was good, and priced fairly well being a hotel establishment. They have another restaurant that serves a breakfast buffet, but after seeing the $13.00 a plate price tag, we drove a 1/2 mile to a McDonald’s. There is also a Wal-Mart Supercenter close to the hotel. In all we were very pleased with our stay.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Obviously Kings Island is a must, this particular hotel runs shuttles to and from the park every 20 minutes, from before opening to 30 minutes after the park closes. It’s an old school bus with no a/c, but it beats having to find a parking spot in the sea of asphalt at the park.

Off season gem

We visited this tourist area in the off season. The pool was super warm, as was the jacuzzi. The room was fine, sure it didn’t have a flat panel, but that’s not what I’m looking to pay for. The breakfast was fresh and adequate. Staff was excellent.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

The Mason, Ohio area is a gem, and I’d recommend the early bird special at the local "Mr. Clean Carwash" owned by P&G.

A great place to stay

My wife and I went to this hotel for an anniversary get away weekend. The staff at the hotel were very friendly. The hotel is fairly close to many great restaurants which make this hotel great for any occasion. The rooms were simple, but clean. The layout of the hotel can be a little confusing, but there are lots of amenities (pool, jacuzzi, game room, etc.) available without going outside.

Traveler's tip on dining

Travel South on Interstate 71 one to two exits as there are a host of restaurants just south of this hotel. The restaurants next to this hotel are limited to Outback, McDonald’s, and a couple others.

Good value for the money

This is a nice resort and we will go back someday. It is fun for kids, especially with the indoor & outdoor pools and arcade. WiFi is not in all guestrooms. Because the housekeeping staff was minimal during the week just before Labor Day (back to school),towels were not replaced at the outside pool. The shelf for clean towels was empty everyday and a bin full of used towels and people’s personal belongings remained almost all week. Double check with the resort on your room type booked. We ordered a standard double, but their system was confirmed as King Family.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

King’s Island theme park is directly across the street. It was only open on the weekends (Just before Labor Day). The Cincinnati Reds are only 20 minutes away, and the aquarium in Newport is very cool. Take a Duck Tour on the Ohio River. The tour guides are great.

Kings Island Resort and Conference Center Hotel

There was a smell to the hotel. Not sure if the bed sheets were even changed when I was there for 3 days. I enjoyed the COLD AC inside the room though.

Very Accommodating

Hotel was very nice and it had several things to do on-site. There were also plenty of pizza places that would deliver directly to the hotel after a long day at Kings Island. I would stay there again in a heartbeat!

Okay for the money

It kinda has that 70’s/80’s feel, it really needs to be updated. First impression of the room was, not bad. Once we were there for the night, we came to find it wasn’t the cleanist. There was an unknown something on the sheets. Honestly other then that it wasn’t bad. Their resturant Coaster’s had some good eats with a decent price.

Kings Island getaway

This hotel is right next to Kings Island. The shuttle service is wonderful. There’s a lot of area restaurants (we loved viva tequila), and attractions. We also enjoyed the hotel bar, Coasters, where we played bar trivia and met new people. They have outdoor games to play, also... cornhole was fun, but they shut the lights out on us at midnight...boo...
