Had a great experience here

We booked this hotel after extensive research of area amenities and could not have been more pleased. The room was very comfortable, though the wallpaper in the bathroom could use a little update. The balcony overlooking the pool and the bay was wonderful and well-used by us. As an adults only property, it was quiet and restful. Located on a main thoroughfare away from downtown, local grocery and other stores were convenient. The hotel’s location and setup protected us from any street noise. The ambiance was that of a wonderful resort, just the ticket for a relaxing vacation. We would rebook here without question on our next trip.

We enjoyed our hotel. The room was nice, maybe a little outdated but we very much enjoyed it. Loved our pool, beach area...it was awesome! Away from Duvall St. so a very nice place to relax during downtime

Nice place for the price

I thought the hotel was good. We really did not spend much time there though. The bed was very comfy and the view above the pool was great!

Checked out in less than 12 hours...

We looked at the reviews for Banana Bay and thought they were reasonable, the website and pictures looked pretty good, promised a private beach, etc. When we arrived at 10p, which it is directly on Route 1 across from the scenic views of the Taco Bell and Pawn Shop, the front desk was just closing. We were given a map to our room with no bellhop to help with luggage. We then had to drag our luggage across a flooded parking lot only to enter our room that wreaked of mold, mildew, had a broken fan, lights, and to top it all off, had hairs of the unseemly kind all over the shower. And the private beach? Smaller than a sandbox. We decided to check out first thing in the morning and ask for a refund- when we complained to the front desk they were more than willing to tell us to call Expedia and get a refund-almost like this happens often. While I will give them credit for giving us a refund, I would think any establishment shouldnt be in the routine about making refunds a habit.

Good pace to hang your hat

Hotel was very nice. The management is really making an effort to update property. In the Keys you don’t stay all that much in the hotel room anyway, too much to do. A good price for what you get.

We were totally satisfied with our room, the property and the staff. Our trip was for an anniversary and the manager and staff made great recommendations of things to see and do to make this a very special weekend. The property includes a beach right on the water and just behind the beach is a very refreshing swiming pool with a hot tub and Tiki Bar. We will definetly book our next stay in Key West at this resort.

This is a very laid back resort away from the downtown area. It is a 10 minute cab fare to get anywhere on the island. Liquor store across the street, BBQ joint one block away.Staff is friendly.

Honeymoon Stay

My wife and I spent a lot on our wedding so I wanted to find some place reasonable. For the price Banana Bay was excellent. It has a nice pool, jacuzzi, tropical feeling rooms, and the staff was friendly and helpful.

Almost every restaurant in the area gave us way too much food. The prices are a bit steep in the area so I’d suggest splitting meals. If you’re both still hungry get desert.

Best of both worlds

It represents old Florida. It is older building and styling which is what we like. Rooms are Tropical, and wall paper peeling in bathroom was only sign of maintenance needed. It is away from Duval but only 3-5 minutes on scooter (recommend this type of trans) pool is attended by locals that are friends of owner I guess, but they made the pool time more interesting. It was fun. It was our 20th anniversary and it made it interesting of course being an adults only.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Use a scooter for transportation, you will see much more of key west, and eat at the Hogfish in Stock Island, 20 minute scooter ride.

Lovely Hotel

The hotel was very nice the staff was very friendly. I only encountered one issue with the maids taking a bag of my belongings and throwing it away but the hotel handled it and refunded me for what I lost overall I would stay again

It’s good enough

It’s not a luxury hotel but still nice. Rooms are clean. Balcony I think in all rooms is the part I was in, overlooks the pool, the beach is small but they are all small in Key West. If you like walking it’s about 1 1/2 to 2 miles to duval st. where all the action is, shopping dining etc. You are actually in the center of most things, there’s a gorgeous beach not too far away, and you can rent scooters and biks. The price was reasonable and also a room downstairs with complimentary continental breakfast, a computer and tv room. The pool is nice too.

you can get a scooter or bike to ride around in, key west is only 2 miles by 4 miles so wherever you stay is fine.

Great Location

This hotel is in a great location, right on the gulf. The beach is for sunning, not swimming. as an adult only hotel, it is quiet and restful. Services were limited due to not being very busy. For example, the pool bar was closed several days. View of next door property (looks like a land fill)when walking to our room was not pleasant, but rooms fac the pool and gulf.

Very Relaxing Place

We really enjoyed Banana Bay. It sits a little bit away from the busy downtown area, closer to the movies, shopping plaza’s etc. Staff was very friendly and helpful, the only downfall was the room was a little dated, and the wallpaper in our room was peeling. But the sheets, and massive amounts of pillows on the bed were very nice. The outdoor space is wonderful! Very peaceful! It was just what my husband and I were looking for.

A cab ride from Banana Bay to Duval Street was only $10 - worth it instead of looking for parking.

Can’t wait to go back

This hotel is a little older and does need some work, but for the cost of the trip I couldn’t have had more fun at a Hilton. Staff was nice, and the resort was small which was great. Very intimate. Some wallpaper peeling off the bathroom walls, refridge worked, but not well, but over very clean and comfortable. I would definatly reccomend this place for someone that does not want loud music and people all night long, but still a very carefree, relaxed atmosphere that you are just a a few miles away from all the action if you choose.

Don’t miss the half shell for happy hour specials from 4-6. 1.75 tap beers and .50 oysters. They are big and delicious. Turtle Krall is right across the way. The smells of BBQ are wonderful. Walk Duval Street. There is so much shopping, dining, drinking, whatever you are in the mood for. However, parking is expensive and hard to find.

Good Hotel

We had a great stay at Banana Bay Resort. The room was good size, had very good furnishings, clean and well-serviced. Not far from historic center.

Very comfortable, somewhat secluded (private).

The hotel is about a mile away from the action around Duval Street and the sunset harbor. Although the hotel is directly on Route 1 it is very quiet and private. I would recommend this hotel if you wanted some privacy and seclusion from the 24 hour a day partying in the downtown area.

The Conch Republic Seafood Restaurant is the best restaurant in Key West; outstanding food and service and great location on the harbor.

Nice hotel, priced right

The front desk help was very friendly. The rooms were bright and clean. The price was right. We will not hesitate to use this hotel again. Hotel was an easy approximate 1.5 miles from the downtown area.

Good Price

I thought the hotel was very nice for the price. We had a great Key West vacation on a budget.

Would stay here again!

Overall the hotel was nice. Very clean, service was excellent as well. We would have fresh towels, soap and shampoo outside our door when we woke the next morning in a basket...just incase. Only because I always leave the do not disturb sign up. It was a very relaxing place. Pool was great as well! Loved every moment!

Good choice

Another time we would like to stay closer to Duval St. As with many tropical locations there are musty conditions. But in general, we were satisfied with the accomodations.

Great Honeymoon

We stayed at this hotel for our honeymoon, 1st week of Oct, and it was wonderful, probably one the most comfy hotel beds I have ever slept in, the room was clean and big enough for all our stuff. The staff was friendly and very helpful with directions and advice on things to see and do, the beach is small but vey secluded and was a very relaxing way to start the day sitting by the water. We will be staying here everytime we come to Key West. Thank you for helping to make our honeymoon an amazing experience.
