“I recently stayed at the Hilton in Gainesville and had a mixed experience. The hotel itself is beautiful, very well-maintained, and tastefully decorated. My room was clean, the bed was very comfortable, and I had a nice view of the city. One of my favorite features was the lovely courtyard with a beautiful tree surrounded by mature trees draped in Spanish moss, which created a peaceful and inviting atmosphere. Unfortunately, the service did not match the quality of the property. The front desk……

“Telephone system didn't work so you could call the desk. They only put 2 towels in a room for a family of 4, then said they ran out of towels when asked for additional. The carpet in the rooms was aborably dirty. When we spilt a little water from our cooler, we used a towel to clean it up. It came up black (not gray). We made everyone wear shoes all the time after that. The place seemed freshly painted. Staff was nice & pleasant. Pool was cloudy. You couldn't see your feet in 3 feet of……

“The room was very clean and the hotel itself looks very nice. There isn’t much to do there or any good seating areas. The “grab n go” area is tiny and definitely doesn’t look as good as they try and put it on the website. My biggest issue was that they were charging me for many unnecessary things like drinks and food I never ordered and even charging me for a second room even after I tried explaining we were just changing rooms.
