Area was nice and quiet, host kept to themselves pretty clean and spacious no kitchen but microwave and mini fridge. Very convenient for a place to stay when visiting Decatur. I would definitely come back

Good, affordable accommodation
We were visiting nearby family, and this space was an excellent "base camp" when most of our time was spent at the family home. It was very clean and tidy; the beds were comfortable. During the spring weather of 70s during the day and 40s/ 50s at night, the space was kept at a comfortable temperature, though I did not see any temperature controls -- it could be that the property owner would be happy to make adjustments, but none were needed. Hot water was plentiful, though the bath controls require a bit of muscle to manipulate. Kitchen amenities include an electric teakettle, microwave, mini fridge/ freezer and dishware; however, one must wash dishes in the small bathroom sink; it is best if you have somewhere else to go for cooking, as we did. There is an odd window into the bathroom that had no curtain, but I found a purple plastic container there with a lid that fit perfectly over the window; otherwise one could stand on the porch and look into the bathroom. The wifi basically worked, but the signal seemed to fluctuate and occasionally drop out; it never became too serious of an issue. A second computer desk would be helpful; my wife and I were both working at times, but there was only one suitable desk. Another good point is that the space was very quiet; there is almost no street traffic, and though the owner was home most nights, I never heard anything from that part of the house. I'm a bit shy, so I did not attempt to contact the owner by phone or knock on their door; nothing happened in our two-week stay that needed intervention in that way. Messages sent via the VRBO app got a standard "the system is busy" response and ultimately went unanswered. I chose this place for the reasonable price and cozy appearance in photos, and the proximity to family. In the end, we were satisfied. PS. There was a barred owl in the trees across the street from the property; there is a wooded ravine behind it, so lots of natural beauty around.

You get what you pay for!
Beginning of stay was a little chaotic, we could not get into property and ended up having to find a hotel for the first night because we could not communicate with the owner. The following day he was very helpful and got the door fixed and fully supported us trying to get a refund for night one. Rest of the stay was pretty seamless. There are no amenities or kitchen space but was a comfortable place to return to and provided the things we needed. Overall was super easy and owner is very kind and understanding.

2/10 do NOT Recommend!!!
I should have known this trip here was going to be some when our top 5 became booked when tried to book it. Couldn’t find the host confirmation email, I inboxed the host no reply. Found the email the day of arrival and then read the instructions. DO NOT stay here if you want Complete privacy!! The owner stays in the majority while you are in a tiny part of it. The only parking for YOU and your guest is the parking on the sidewalk at the TOP of the hill while the host takes up the whole drive way. The door is “dead bolted” closed but you are only allowed to lock the top door NOT the bottom which made us feel as if the host could come on at any time. Trying to look past that. The living room light has a do not touch tape on the light switch causing that light to stay on the whole time. The only tv in the house which is in the living room did not work! Only 2 rolls of tissue. The main bedroom bulb went out. After trying to bare with these things happening… you can head the host and family CLEARLY talking, doing laundry, cooking, showering, making coffee, EVERYTHING!! This did not make us feel safe! Please please please read my review before booking! I want my money back!

Everything was great, only complaint is that the walls are pretty thin and sometimes you can hear between rooms or even noises from the other side of the complex (as I’m sure they could hear us too). But I would certainly come back!
