"I heard it was great for bird watching, animals and had a view of the volcano. I must no have got lucky. I didn't see any of that. The food was okay. The room had a lot of noise because the wind blowing large seeds of the trees above it. Woke up about 4 times to what sounded like large rocks hitting the metal roof. Staff was okay."

"The Lodge was spectacular and the staff friendly, professional, and helpful. Within hours of arrival, they knew our names. The room was large, private, clean and very comfortable with a large deck overlooking the rainforest, a huge bathroom and our own private hot tub. We did many activities through the lodge (hiking, yoga, night walk, bird watching tour) and the guides were excellent. The food was delicious and very fresh. Each dish was beautifully plated and generous. 5 stars!"

"Very nice stay in the nature. Host are very kind. Breakfast is good enjoying a beautiful view on the forest with Tucans and other birds. Tucan villa is close to the road (not a main one) so can be a bit noisy in the evening. But we enjoyed our stay!"

"What a beautiful place and the owners and staff is so kind and makes you feel so welcome. The cabins are very nice, food is delicious and the setting is absolutely gorgeous. I wish my time here could have been longer as there is so much more to explore. I hope to bring my kids here soon."

"Gorgeous setting. The bathroom was not up to date and there were big gaps at the bottom of the doors. They didn't warn us that the hike was moderate to difficult."

"Had a nice stay in the cabins with my family. If you understand that you’re getting a cabin in the woods, you’ll be fine. We had the family cabin and was Very rustic with 4 beds in a big room. A/C worked fine and there was a mini fridge which we appreciated. Mattresses were like sleeping on boards though so would suggest they change those if possible. Other than that, it was nice and peaceful. Bonus is the hike to the waterfalls are free for guests…a must do!!"

"We loved the view, the owner, and the general setup. However, the A/C didn’t work, which made us open the windows and doors more, which meant there were bugs everywhere. There was also a trick to getting hot water in the shower, which required sacrificing water pressure. We also struggled to get the front door the close and the owner had to show us a trick. Our stay was also majorly impacted by rowdy neighbors and extremely thin walls. My kids thought I had friends in our suite because it was so...

"The property and grounds are amazingly beautiful. This property is set back off the main road and is next to only 1 other unit which makes it private but also very relaxing. The hosts are wonderful people and gave us excellent advice on what to do and where to go and even taught us about the trees and animals. This place is absolutely the best option in this area. "

"We had an excellent stay in this B&B. The location is amazing in the middle of the nature, very quiet.
The breakfast is great and the recommendation for local tour are very helpful.
In addition it is possible to order diner from the city that will be served in their dining room.
It was extremely convenient."

"Villa el Tucan is a gem with impeccable service! Bijagua is a cute little village close to Rio Celeste with this new adorable lodge. The owners thought of everything to make your stay comfortable and memorable. The cabins are cozy, clean, airy, and they even have screens on their windows and sliding glass door. Great lil porch to relax and enjoy the view.
They even added a short walking trail to a refreshing river!
They have thought of everything! "

"This property has a lot of pros. - close to park entrance, very clean, friendly manager, good breakfast, good AC and very cheap. The cons are that the room doors face the highway and the rooms are small. Good base for a night or two."

"Eladio is a great host , and his love and knowledge of Costa Rica’s Eco System is Excellant. The 7 hour tour of the rain forest was fabulous. I’m in my seventies but in excellent health had no problem. But if out of shape I wouldn’t recommend it. His private beach excursions highly recommended. He also offers boat tours for wildlife. The grounds & pool certainly were a welcome sight. I stayed in the 2 floor house it’s rustic. There is also a one story cottage which is modern. Eladio is more than willing to transport you to restaurants or shopping, nothing in walking distance. Having a car would have been helpful but not necessary. Had a great time. "
"Everything was simply amazing! Staff were lovely; the food and service were impeccable. Couldn't recommend this hotel more! We will definitely be back!"
Simply the best, incredible views, pool, delicious food and a friend in the area.

"Both times we stayed at this property Patrick was waiting to meet us when we arrived. He and his wife go well out of their way to assure you have a great vacation. The home is equipped with many books, games, and so many cool artifacts to check out! It’s secluded and quiet giving you that perfect feeling of being lost in nature. The kitchen has everything you need to stay in and fix a meal, or better yet, have Patrick cook for you. He’s an excellent chef who was willing to accommodate a vegan as well as vegetarian and omnivores all together. The property is a gem in itself, but the people you will encounter there are above all expectation! Book this place asap!"
"The friendliest staff I have ever met on any vacation! The grounds and rooms were immaculate and every staff member was welcoming, knowledgeable, and personable. The food was delicious, the beds were comfortable, and the property was gorgeous. We can't wait to go back!"
"Only compliments can me made. Cabins are so pretty, food is amazing. On top of it is the warm welcome and highest quality of service you get anytime "
"Jungle oasis! Very quiet, just the jungle sounds, and running river. We loved breakfast watching the hummingbirds, and the pool. Lovely plants and flowers. Great stop on the way to Arenal! "
"We stayed at this lovely B&B for two nights and had an absolutely wonderful experience. The place was spotless - the bedroom, bathroom, and balcony were all exceptionally clean and well-maintained. The balcony offered a stunning view of Lake Arenal, which made for a peaceful and relaxing stay.
The two hosts were fantastic - warm, welcoming, and attentive to every detail. They made me feel right at home from the moment I arrived. Breakfast each morning was delicious and thoughtfully prepared, a perfect start to the day.
Highly recommend this place to anyone visiting the area. We would definitely stay here again!"
"Big, clean rooms. Excellent breakfast and dinner menu.
Friendly staff.
It is a 2 minute walk up beach, this beach is quite rustic and a few more minutes to walk to more sandy beach.
My only con was the outdoor grounds could have used a power wash and the pool sitting area was dirty and slimy. "
"An amazing place with a super staff. They can help plan different activities around the area, and are very helpful with any request. We had a great time staying there. Monkeys and a toucan just outside our room, and we went on a jungle hike to see sloths and other creatures just 10 minutes away. They’re very committed to sustainable living and eco tourism. "

"Beautiful grounds, Clean, comfortable beds, great food, friendly service. Swimming pool, hot spring pools, and river swimming area were great amenities. We would stay here again and recommend to all. "
"I've stayed at the Hotel Guanacaste for 15 years - the only times i have not is when they haven't had a room available- it's my preferred local. It's not a fancy place, but it suits my needs. It is very close to the bus stations and dining choices

"The Villa was wonderful. The grounds were like a botanical garden. We saw wildlife, howler monkeys, toucans and numerous birds, from the patio! It's location was perfect. The proximity to adventures and local restaurants was ideal. We would definitely stay here again. "
