"Convenient for public transport and the castle was within walking distance. Unfortunately i was given a smoking room which stank like an old ashtray. The room was heavily nicotine stained and even after using freshner it still smelt.the Free breakfast was limited in choice and not topped up, so first in best selection. The staff are friendly and helpful and i will stay here again but i will specify a non smking room."

"The hotel is about 10 minutes drive from Karuizawa station. It is in a quite place. There is a lake nearby surrounded by restaurants. But unfortunately it was closed while we were there, since it was winter and after Christmas. I loved the interiors of the hotel. The room was super cozy. We visited in a group of 5. "Very close to Nagano station where you can take the Shinkansen or local trains or buses to get around this beautiful prefecture. A short walk to Zenko-ji temple, the Zenko-ji Nakamise shopping street, and Nishinomon-Yoshinoya Sake Brewery if you want to sample some sake or amazake. Compact room but all the amenities needed to make your stay comfortable. If I'm back in Nagano, I will stay there again."

"Staff were friendly, breakfast buffet was small but okay. Rooms were a good size but I wasn’t really happy with the room cleaning. I stayed 5 nights and my sheets weren’t changed once. That would normally be okay except my partner had an unexpected nosebleed and got a little bit of blood on our doona and it sat there for 5 nights. When our room would get ‘made up’ the staff would just reposition the doona, where they would clearly see the blood, instead of changing it. It was just a bit gross...

"Our stay at Hakuba House was incredibly homely. Grant and his team are exceptional and went above and beyond to make our stay in Hakuba the best it could be. It was great to be able to come home after a day on the slopes and relax by the fire with a drink from the bar. Hakuba house is conveniently located near to shuttles and restaurants, and the staff were happy to drop us to dinner and make reservations for restaurants and Onsens. "

The rooms were generous in size, the breakfasts western style - every variety of eggs that you could think of, and the lodge is easy walking distance to the ski lift at Happo One or the shuttle service to other resorts."
