“A lovely house in a beautiful location should’ve given us a wonderful holiday but it was far from the 4 star anniversary experience we were hoping for after a very difficult year for my wife & I. We had to be moved from our room due to the shower tray not draining but there were old coffee stains on the skirting board, tablecloth & curtains, not to mention stains on one of the “clean” towels. “Our fourth stay at the Metropole in recent years.A privilege to stay in such a unique historic building,with yes a little patina around the edges.If you dont embrace the nostalgia then budget chain's are available.The staff here are so good,as is the breakfast and the pool and spa facility.A great location for roadtrips around mid Wales,and a huge car park.”

“I stayed in the Hayloft. My hosts could not have been more charming. The Hayloft was beautifully furnished and much care had gone into it. The one thing that I think let it down was the quality of the beds - 4 singles - the mattress lacked support and you could actually feel the springs in it. I think a mattress upgrade would match the high quality bedding that is provided. The only other thing was that the fridge was switched off and open when I arrived. “Our stay was truly wonderful from start to finish. The venue itself is absolutely stunning—rich in history and full of character—and the gardens are simply breathtaking. Being able to walk down to the River Usk and wander for miles through the open fields was such a special experience.
