"Generally an excellent place to stay. Very comfortable king bed, clean and quiet room, convenient location in an attractive building and setting. Heater/AC worked perfectly and mostly didn't blow into drapes. Front desk people were very nice and helpful. The two garbage cans outside the side entrance were stuffed full for at least two days but the grounds were otherwise clean. As for amenities, I don't have a TV at home, so I had a hard time figuring out how to use the smart TV. Even the night clerk wasn't sure. I just wanted plain old TV and that option took some specific steps, discovered through trial and error. The fridge was only slightly cool, not cold. I can't speak to the breakfast because I never eat the largely non-food options offered at hotel breakfasts."

Historic Cary House Hotel

"Placerville is an adorable historic gold mining town with a lovely main street with lots of cute shops and restaurants. The historic Cape Hotel looks exactly like it did 150 years ago in all of its old photos. It is like stepping back in time. It has the second oldest working elevator west of the Mississippi. The staff was extremely friendly. You get to park for free directly behind the hotel (after checking in they will give you a pass to put in your window). Each room is given a cute little name. Our room had a little kitchenette, it was clean, and the beds were comfortable. The water pressure and temperature was great. We did go in July, so I knew it would be hot. It took awhile for the AC to "cool" the rooms down, but I brought a plug in portable fan that I put next to the nightstand. The rooms never really got "cold." It was a fun experience even though we didn't encounter any ghosts."

"We stayed here for three nights. A good value for the price. Breakfast was decent, the smallish pool was well-liked by the kids. The room was clean and comfy, although the bed was very soft. Some staff were very helpful, others seemed irritated by our presence. With only one person at the desk at any time, sometimes you had to wait a few minutes for pool towels. We also had put out our "clean room" sign one day, and it was ignored."

"No paper towels, except the one roll. A clean, new dish sponge would have been nice. Toilet paper was stored above the kitchen stove, hard to find. No soap or shampoo in the bathrooms. Not enough towels for every guest. Bath tubs did not have drain plugs, so little kids had to shower. Defective sink plug in the downstairs bathroom.There was confusion on check out time. We had three different times printed in the paperwork - 10:00. 10:30 and 11:00.#19. Paddle Boat and two stand-up paddle boards are available. NONE to be found on the property.We did not see trash bins at the shop, so left the trash bags in the Bear Boxes at the house.The Game Room was a hit with the kids.Kathy was very nice and understood us not being ready to leave until 11:00 after I showed her the confusing paperwork.This is a very nice home in a beautiful spot. We expected more for the price, however."
