The entire hotel property from the exterior to every fixture and piece of furniture was brand new or overhauled. “We read the reviews and knew the hotel was dated but we were pleasantly surprised and pleased by the staff and accommodations. Breakfast buffet was good and filling. We even had AC in our room. Alaska is expensive. Juneau is expensive- everything has to be shipped in by plane or boat. The hotel is centrally located and convenient to downtown Juneau!”

“We chose this hotel because it was within walking distance to the Cruise Port, where we were departing from two days later. The website stated that much of the hotel had been renovated. If so, apart from the mattress, the renovations must have occurred in the 1950's. The new mattress sat on a creaky, noisy wooden frame. The 2nd story room was small and cramped. No air conditioning. “Nice sea view from the balcony. Traffic noise was heavy during the day but quieted down at night. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Gym was small and not well equipped.
