I have never had such an awful vacation, with utterly disrespectful management. They have a restaurant on the premises. I couldn't make this up if I tried. They pound veal throughout the day and evening. They booked our room right above the kitchen. There was a relentless pounding noise and the floor literally vibrated for hours on end. We repeatedly spoke to management and they refused to get the restaurant to stop, or offer any compensation. Why would they book the room right on top of the restaurant kitchen when according to the desk manager, they are well aware this is a repeated issue!!!

The Empress is a very charming modern hotel with lovely amenities. It has an old world charm, including a great Italian restaurant, The Manhatten.

The rooms badly need some updating and renovation. The staff was rather unfriendly and not helpful. The location is great but that's not enough to make me return.

Some of my family got COVID the day before our trip and they wouldn’t allow us to cancel without lab tests. A home test wasn’t good enough for them. So went anyway. I wouldn’t recommend going if you are concerned with COVID as they don’t seem to care.
