The perfect spot if you have shopping to do, this high-end retail and residential district in central London has top-end boutiques and a large museum.

Visit Knightsbridge to see stately Victorian houses and verdant gardens in a district northwest of Belgravia and south of Hyde Park. Known in the 17th century for its numerous taverns, Knightsbridge has over the centuries emerged as one of London’s most luxurious neighborhoods.

Wander the area’s side streets to spot charming pubs of yesteryear, many of which have withstood the tide of development. Stop at the Britannia, which has been operating since 1834, to enjoy its old-world décor, complete with intriguing prints.

Keep your credit cards handy, as shopping here will tempt your senses and tax your wallet. Most notably, the area is home to Harrods, the largest department store in Europe, and Harvey Nichols, a famous luxury store dating back to 1831. Head to Sloane Street for well-known high-end boutiques including Dior and Prada or Beauchamp Place for one-off boutique designer stores.

Don’t miss the Victoria and Albert Museum, a Knightsbridge establishment dating back to 1852. Named after Queen Victoria and Prince Albert, it houses a permanent collection of more than 2 million objects from the past 5,000 years. One of the largest museums in the world, the venue features 145 galleries.

Another point of interest, the Church of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, popularly known as the London Oratory, is a large neo-classical Roman Catholic church that hosts regular organ recitals.

Knightsbridge is a fascinating area to people-watch and enjoy some London glitz and glamor. Alternatively, grab a stool at one of the city’s oldest pubs and have a drink while you watch the world go by.
