Overall loved staying at the property I’m not sure it’s worth the $300 nightly nothing special about the room we were in (2 queen beds) It was our first time in this area wish the concierge was more friendly and told us a little more about the hotel and area around us. The restaurant in house Jacks was just okay again for the price, we ordered in one night thinking wow convenient but wasn’t worth the price either. We have a 2 year old and a 3 month old Wish the parking garage and rooms weren’t so far apart as far as luggage and carrying everything yourself when not paying extra for valet. On our last day the elevators were out of order we parked on the very top of course, so that was an interesting way to end the stay. But i felt completely safe and comfortable there with my girls and that’s the most important for me.

Property was convienient and nice. Room was nice and they accommodated all requests. Only reason gave them 4 stars is because during our stay the staff knocked on our door to do random stuff like check countertop ,switch out water, put new water in ; check thermostat. While I appreciate them taking care of the building they could have waited until we checked out rather then keep disturbing us while on vacation.

Fantastic location and hotel. Walkable to so many options for dining, outdoor markets, breweries and much more. The beach is only a two blocks away and great bike trails just outside of the hotel. Will be back.

We were locked out of our hotel room due to technical issues and it took staff hours to address the issue. When the mechanic came to look at the room, and I don’t say this to be mean I am completely serious, he smelled of fecal matter. They also are not clear about charging for parking. We were charged an extra $200 at the end of our stay for self-parking, did not use valet once. They will not warning you they are charging you just to park at the hotel.

Our stay at the Portola was sensational! We stayed four nights along with a few other friends from the wedding we were attending over the weekend. This hotel is perfectly situated near restaurants, bars, and plenty of shops. Old Fisherman’s Wharf is right outside by the hotel courtyard, and the convenience of having so many restaurants in the vicinity can’t be beat. Walkability is excellent, the only time we had to get a ride share was when we visited Pebble Beach to make the 17-Mile Drive on some bikes. I always like to rate beds too because mattress comfort is pretty important to me; I’d give these beds a 6 out of 10 - it was a little lumpy and firm for my taste, but didn’t ruin my sleep. Walls are a little thin too because we had a group of women stay next door to us and we could hear everything they were saying early in the morning. We stayed on the third floor of the hotel, and street noise is virtually non-existent from that level (the entire area is pretty quiet after 10 p.m. since all the surrounding bars and shops are closed). Overall, this was an amazing stay and experience. We can’t wait to visit again!

Hotel lobby was beautiful inviting bar/resturant was nice had a great fireplace. But for outdoor lounge or any views of the ocean there is zero. The hotel room was a disappointment! We walked and it there was a smell like old dirt carpets. Even when you walked out of the elevators very disappointed. Back to the room the bathroom was the only nice renovated place. The room itself was dated and dirty. We put our stuff down found pieces offood around the desk area floor. They definitely did not vacuum the room before. The baseboards are dirty and dingy. This immediately turned uss off. Paying $550 a night I expected way more than that. Its very unfortunate. I called guest services and the girl on the phone didn’t apologize and didn’t know if they could have it cleaned because the cleaning staff leave after 4pm. She said she would call me back to see if they can have it done. I told her we are leaving for dinner so it would be good. Come on!? this isnt the type of customer service one would expect at the portola hotel and spa. Unfortunately this would be my first and last time booking a hotel here. We wanted a nice weekend away without kids at a fine establishment but got a huge disappointment.
