"Location location location is the value here. The property and my room were fine (despite all the terrible reviews) unless you’re seeking the bougie Aspen experience. This is a budget hotel by Aspen standards - and you get budget lodging. A room with some dated furniture, an adequate bed, a hot shower, and a TV. But - it’s probably a 100 yard walk to the slopes where it’s a short easy ski down to the Village Express chair. Snowmass Mall is equally close, as was parking. This is the best ski-in ski-out value you’ll find in Aspen. I’ll be back."

"The Aspenalt Lodge is an appealing, budget-friendly option on the river right in historic downtown Basalt and an easy drive to the ski areas. Front desk was friendly, our room was clean and comfortable; breakfast was decent, with some higher-quality options like better bread, coffee, and really good apple juice. The only downside was the strong cleaning agent odor in our room when we arrived. Kind of a sweet chemical smell. Not very good air circulation, so we had to open our window and door wide for 15 minutes to get the smell to abate. Would recommend a more natural cleaning agent without such a toxic artificial odor. "
