We booked this property sight unseen. The view was wonderful, except for the busy street below, but the street sound wasn't too bad with windows closed. However, there is only one person managing the place. The bedspread was extremely dirty, we removed it and asked for an additional blanket - which we never got. The walls were super thin and we could hear people talking, so I recommend turning on white noise in order to sleep. Basically, they need more help as there's only one guy (a very nice guy) running the place...24/7. But it's conveniently located to downtown and the boardwalk.

Nice intermediate hotel , pretty clean looks like they did some remodeling. could use a little cleaning on the bathroom fans and I only say this because I do maintenance for three of the top 10 hotels in town. Wouldn't let me upload any photos so I couldn't show you the fan but it's pretty dirty

Happy Santa Cruz has a few reasonable places
they work very hard to keep everything nice and clean and smelling good and sanitary. It's nice to be near the river and look out at the boardwalk. Good value for a fair price.

The hotel has the river view and the boardwalk view. It has patio. The road is next to it, so it is pretty noisy. Just walking distance to the boardwalk and wharf. We always stay here whenever we visit Santa Cruz (5x in less than a year).

old interior was very poorly patched up, not professionally maintained. Lacked adequate table space. Microwave did not work. Could not open shampoo packages without scissors. Soap too small to lather washcloth. No designated smoking area on premises. High, noisy vehicle traffic on busy street. Why balconies, no good views or smoking allowed, useless space. No dressers for storage of clothing or personal belongings.
