I only stayed for two days, but the experience was disappointing. I arrived at 2:30 PM, just 30 minutes before the 3:00 PM check-in time, and had to wait standing because the reception area had no chairs. The room was never cleaned or organized during my stay. Used towels were not exchanged, but after informing the front desk, I was simply given new towels and had to carry them myself to the third floor. The Wi‑Fi was very slow, frequently disconnected, and unreliable. Overall, I do not recommend this place.

The staff were so friendly and helpful, couldn’t do enough for you. The bar area is great, the rooms are comfortable and spacious. Location is right at the top of the steep hill at California St but the cable car stop is also there. The only reason I haven’t given it a 5* is the breakfast could be improved. You have to hand in a breakfast buffet voucher (pay extra for à la carte) and you are handed a plate (v old and scratched). Options are limited and no table service. You have to make your own tea in a paper cup. That doesn’t make it a luxury hotel in my view.
