I had called ahead of time to ask for an hour early check-in so I could attend a wedding that was beginning at 4:30. The staff said to check at noon, and although I had no guarantee, they assured me that they would make an effort and note it. An hour was probable. I wasn’t able to check-in until 4pm, so ended up going to another hotel to get ready. I ended up checking in around 11pm. I could have avoided a room that cost 826- for the night plus a 50- resort fee. The staff was fine, although the afternoon valet was rude. The evening valet was helpful and offered let me know which building I was in, which I appreciated, since it was late. The room was clean, and I did have a view of the ocean in the morning for the short time I had. What bothers me is that the maids came to clean and knocked on my door at 9am, when checkout was 10 am. No problem getting me out, but getting me in wasn’t a priority. They shouldn’t have said I could probably get in an hour early. I could have just driven home. The reason for the hotel stay was to get ready. The “resort” fee includes valet parking, however I was directed to self-park. Overall, I wouldn’t stay again. As a business traveler for 20 years, I wasn’t satisfied. The Hyatt can do better.
