Carmel Beach Walk Pet-friendly Vacations

It's a nice property and well maintained. A good location--off the beaten path, but not too far off. The rooms are a bit dated and the furniture was at best unattractive. The HVAC system is quite noisy. The front desk staff was comprised of younger people, and while friendly enough, they just knew how to follow rules and give canned responses. Overall, the staff was very friendly. Food is another matter. The restaurant is technically open seven days but Sunday through Tuesday they offer only a very limited bar menu. If you plan on having a nice lunch or dinner, you'll have to look elsewhere on those evenings. The breakfast was surprising to say the least. My wife ordered the huevos rancheros. There was a lot of liquid at the bottom of her plate. Did they not drain the beans or was the dish prepared in advance? The accompanying avocado was unripe. I'm sorry but you don't let that type of thing out of the kitchen. Better not to serve it at all. I've saved the best for last. I ordered the frittata. It was tasteless and was like biting into a wet sponge. From it's appearance and experience (I can cook) this seem like an larger egg bite from Costco's freezer that was just microwaved. I was aghast. The server confirmed that it was not made fresh, but just "warmed up." There is no excuse for this except possibly at the free breakfast that comes with your room at Best Western. Perhaps once, this was the place to stay, but at almost $700 a night all in, I expect much better.

While our room had a fantastic coastal view it was strangely missing a bedside table and light on one side - there is nowhere to buy any snacks or sundries - no little store at all on the property - which staff said they are asked about all the time. The property is tricky to get around -it’s steep - lots of stairs and not very conducive to exploring. The sunsets are spectacular:)

I loved the view of the Bay. Room was clean. Staff, bar, and restaurant was great. Had issues with noise from unit above 1st night, 2nd night had plumbing issues tub gurgling, toilet bubbling up with foam. Tech came and said this has happened before coming from upstair unit.

Property is really clean and sophisticated. There is wine/ cocktail hour from 5-6pm which was so lovely. Check in was quick and easy and the rooms were spacious and elegant. They offered pet supplies if we needed. :) My only complaint was our bathroom faucet didn’t have any running hot water at all. The Gym was well equipped and the staff was so friendly. Will definitely stay there if I’m ever in Monterey again.

Superior staff, very friendly and kind. Conveniently located within walking to all nice restaurants and shopping Main Street for shopping. Rooms are super clean and nicely designed with modern furniture and USB chargers that actually work :)

Charming, clean, excellent location. Wish they had free breakfast and more parking but those weren’t dealbreakers for us
