Super 8 by Wyndham Vandalia/Dayton International Airport

8/10 Good

"It's a Super 8, so it's a no-frills place to spend the night. Its main attraction, of course, is that it's very close to Dayton International Airport. As such, if you're arriving late at night, or departing very early in the morning, it's very convenient. Transportation to the airport is available 24-hours a day, for a $20 surcharge, but it's reliable and beats hoping to get a taxi or an Uber/Lyft at 4:30 am, which is what I needed this morning. The room, bed and bathroom are very clean, the (guessing) 48" TV works well with all the usual broadcast and cable channels, the plumbing all works as it should, and the through-the-wall AC/heat unit is effective and quiet. The staff is cordial. A variety of fast-food places are within walking distance, with a McD across the parking lot. Don't expect luxury or frills, but it's perfect for comfort and convenience before/after a flight."

"Overall not a bad hotel. They were under renovation so no pool! No good for a kids soccer tourney. Had a lot of trouble with the room keys not working. Shower was either hot! Or cold! No in between. Room was clean and spacious. Nice variety of restaurants near by."

"The hotel itself is old and outdated but reasonably priced and the bed was very comfortable. I would stay there again if I'm in the area, but it would be nice if they would look into doing some upgrades and renovations since there was peeling paint in the bathroom of my hotel room and the furniture looked beat up. But if you're looking for an affordable place in the area, I would recommend the Hope hotel."
