The Starfish Cottage is the perfect place to relax for your next getaway. Located in the Pierpont neighborhood of Ventura which is just west of the 101 freeway between San Buenaventura State Park and The Marina. This ideal location offers the best of Ventura.

Bike trails will take you along ocean paths to Santa Barbara or east to Ojai. Restaurants are within walking distance from The Starfish. The Marina has the best bikini store along with well established eateries.

Head across the freeway to old downtown Ventura for a great shopping or dining experience. Check out the resell shops, wine bars, and just all the wonderful locally owned businesses.

The cottage kitchen has everything you need for cooking. Our large outdoor patio is comfortable and roomy. Our home is situated on the north side - or sunny side of the lanes- so you will get nice morning breezes and afternoon sun.

Step outside the front door for a less then a 2 minute walk to the beach. All Pierpont lanes end at the State Beach.

You will love our new extra comfy king bed in the master bedroom - we splurged on the mattress and bedding. The second bedroom has a queen bed and the den has a new queen sofa sleeper. All linens are 600 count cotton sheets, pillows are the Allergen brand and we only use cotton covered down like comforters on all beds. We also provide plenty of throw blankets and extra blankets for your comfort.

An outdoor hot/cold shower is available to wash sand off yourself and your suits before going inside. A small amount of sand can clog the pipes and drains.

The kitchen is completely stocked with dishes (indoor and out) for your needs. We have a toaster, crock pot, Vitamix, Mocca Master Coffee Pot, spices, condiments and anything in the fridge is free to use.

All beach items are stored in The Tuff Shed behind the east front gate. Bikes can be stored behind the locked gate. The Shed is full of beach towels, chairs, umbrellas and other beach items that you will not have to pack.

Remove personal items and take out the trash
Turn off the lights and return the keys
If you brought a dog please make sure all poo is bagged and picked up. Please do not throw unbagged poo in the trash bins. Water any pee spots on the grass.
Don’t forget to leave all remotes and collect your cords. We will mail any items you forget free of charge.
Please do not strip beds. Place on floor by washer any blankets that are dirty and don’t forget the used beach towels - it’s okay if you leave them outside l!
Failure to complete these may result in a negative review from the host.

PARKING: Driveway has room for 2-3 medium sized cars. Cars cannot be parked in the lanes (not one wheel) or horizontally in front on the house.
TAR is present in the ocean. YOU MUST CHECK YOUR FEET AND BODY B4 YOU COME INSIDE. USE BABY OIL AND RAGS PROVIDED.
The City of Ventura has "Good Neighbor Polices" set by the city. You will receive a copy of these city rules as well as a copy in the cottage.

Beautiful beach/ ocean vacation

The owner was great. She really wanted us to enjoy ourselves. Great location and really nicely decorated. The rooms were comfortable and everything was so clean and organized. There was a lot of beach chairs, towels and play toys. And a really nice backyard with a big lawn. We will be back.

Cozy Cottage in Ventura

There are only good things to say about the Starfish Cottage-from communication with the owner to the cleanliness of this rental. Plenty of room for 4 adults & 1 child We can’t wait to return!

Beach Cottage Perfection!

This property fit our vacation needs perfectly! From the attentiveness of the host, the quaint and clean cottage with amenities, the beautiful backyard and proximity to both the beach and nearby restaurants, this adorable cottage exceeded our expectations! I definitely want to return again!

Great!!!

It was a perfect cottage for our family. Close to Ventura downtown, close to LA, close to Santa Barbara, and above all close to the beach. We had wonderful time there. The host was very helpful, and the cottage was cozy with beautiful backyard.

Walk to surf Fabulous beach house

This place was perfect for our family! Its a 2 bedroom with a place you can have a 3rd bed if you need it - really nice backyard for our dogs, walking distance to the beach every morning and night with a dog friendly beach - even some surf!! It was a really nice cozy fun spot to cook in with a nice center island and attached dining area - we had a blast! Highly recommended also because the host was amazing and responsive. I would choose to go back to Ventura just to stay at this spot! Thanks.

Starfish Beach Cottage

We totally enjoyed our stay at this lovely 2 bedroom cottage. The home is super comfortable and the kitchen is stocked with everything needed to make great meals. The backyard is a peaceful oasis and a perfect place to BBQ and relax. Our pup also felt very much at home here! Bunnie is an excellent host and a great person. I forgot my special chiropractic pillow and Bunnie went out of the way it have it returned to me. We highly recommend staying at this beautiful beach house and will definitely be back!

Beautiful place, amazing location!

Bunnie’s house was absolutely perfect for our weekend stay in Ventura for the X Games. We were able to walk to the Ventura fairgrounds and back each day. Beds are comfy. No AC, but it’s not needed— the beach breeze keeps the house cool with the windows open. The area is quiet by 10PM, so there are no noises keeping you awake. Bunnie is very attentive as well, and could always be reached. I only gave 4 stars for cleanliness as our bed had some sand in it; it wasn’t bothersome once swept out, though. Would definitely stay here again!

Wonderful cozy Beach place!

We selected this beautiful beach house to meet up with our son, daughter-in-law, daughter and her partner the weekend after Thanksgiving. What a great score! The place was comfortable and well stocked for cooking -- a must for our family. The two bedrooms were cozy + a comfortable queen size sofa bed and two full bathrooms. It's literally a block from the beach -- which was fantastic while we were there! We took long walks and were able to spend in-depth time with all our kids. Bunnie was very responsive and available despite the holiday season. Overall, a "5" . . . and we are regular users of VRBO. Did I mention the backyard patio with fire pit, barbecue, and outdoor table for six? Loved it . . .

Young family with kids & a grandma

We loved staying at this cottage. Plenty of room, nice kitchen to cook meals in with updated appliances . The mocha Machine was a nice thing to have. Lots of games to enjoy. Feels like a beach cottage. The cottage is walking distance to the beach. The owners had everything you would need for a day at the beach in the shed outside, which made our trip so much easier. There is an outside shower with warm water water. My daughter broke a pottery bowl and I felt terrible about it. When talking with the owner she was very understanding. All in all our experience would bring us back here. Still awaiting our deposit, butI know it's all coming.

Home away from home

I spent two nights at the Thomas's Ventura property for a weekend get away trip for my birthday. I had a pretty full house, with about 10 people visiting during the day and 5 adults staying overnight. The house comes fully stocked with kitchen ware and beach items, including a wagon to transport beach chairs and umbrellas to the beach. The queen sized bed was pretty comfy in the master room and the other guests seem to really enjoy the couches/chaise in the common areas. For some reason, they didn't choose to stay in the room with twin beds. I brought my Yorkie who also enjoyed having an enclosed yard to romp around in. The Thomas family was so welcoming and approaching to work with. (don't get overwhelmed by all the detailed rules- following them is just basic courtesy/cleanliness).

Perfect getaway!

Cute cottage

The cottage is small, but nice and cozy. We had everything we needed. The beds were comfortable and there was plenty of hot water. We were lucky to have nice weather and really enjoyed our stay.

Terrific beach cottage

We had a wonderful stay at Starfish Cottage. The location is excellent just down the lane from the beach and great for walking around Pierpont. The house was clean and very comfortable for our family. The kitchen was well appointed and included a wonderful coffee maker. My kids loved spending time in the spacious yard and playing with some of the beach toys available in the outside shed. Bunnie was so accommodating and responsive as a host. Thank you for a great stay! We hope to come back again soon.

Nice place in Ventura

Beds were comfy, house was clean, area was quiet, host was responsive, beach and sunset was just a walk away. We did have to drive to destinations like restaurants or touristy places, except for beach.

Location. Location. Location.

Starfish cottage is an easy place to settle into. It is a 2 minute walk to the beach and within a drive of a few minutes of downtown and the harbor. The cottage is fantastic, clean, well-stocked and just a fun and relaxing place to be. Spent 6 nights with my wife and 2 kids and we are already excited to go back. Bunnie, the host, is fantastic to communicate with and she takes pride in the cottage and the area- and it shows throughout the cottage and the overall experience of being in Pierpont. Can’t wait to get back to Ventura!!

Highly recommend

Bunnie was a terrific host. Responds to everything very quickly and gives great advice on things to do. You can tell she loves her place. The beds were so comfortable, and the linens were so soft. The kitchen was well stocked. The backyard was awesome, though we didn’t use the fireplace or anything in the shed. It was lovely to sit outside and have the smell of the jasmine. Her garden is very lovely. The house is a close walk to the beach and we walked around the neighborhood and to a park close to by. Would highly recommend. Please respect this home as if it is your own, and respect the rules. Would love to return!

A piece of serenity & hometown memories!

Favorite stay by far!!!

I've been using VRBO for more than a decade, usually with good results. I grew up in V-Town and much of my family still lives there. Each time we come to visit, we will be (((hopefully))) staying at Starfish Cottage. This stay was EXCELLENT! 500 STARS!!! These folks were are the gold standard. Our host was thorough and attentive, keeping in touch from confirmation to check-out (respectfully, and as-needed.) The cottage was C-L-E-A-N, well appointed and so comfortable. It felt homie, but not like we were tripping through someone else's home. There were nice personal touches, but again, not overwhelmingly so. The yard was simple, well-manicured, secured for the pups and very private. There were no sad surprises here. Everything was as-advertised and then some. Our dogs were allowed, but this didn't feel, smell or look like a house with dogs in it. (We have been disappointed by houses like this before.) Bottom line: If you're looking for clean, comfortable, welcoming and unpretentious, with proximity to the beach and anywhere else you need to go, this is the spot!

Loved it all except the weather

Perfect cozy cottage with all the amenities necessary for a great beach getaway. Extra bathroom is a great luxury and the backyard space with plenty of chairs is a real bonus. On top of that a shed full of stuff to play with and you've got everything. Even though we had one of the fiercest rainstorms I've ever encountered, we stayed nice and dry inside with no flooding or pooling of water outside either. We will be back when we attempt our trip to the Channel Islands again.
