“We booked a one-night experience for ourselves, our two sons and their respective wives at this highly rated facility as part of our vacation. We arrived early for our check-in, so one of three rooms was available which was fine. The rooms were large but had a musty smell when we entered. The bed was comfortable, but most of the amenities are dated. That said, this was meant to be a “lodge”, so our expectations may have been too high. “Went in with excitement to experience Travel & Leisures Best Luxury Resort in CA. From check-in to check-out the experience was 3 star or just OK. As a Marriott Ambassador Elite, I have low expectations for hotel and resort stays so this one was a real opportunity to WOW. Upon arrival the room was not ready (3:30p) which is because check-in was 4p (understandable). At 4p room not ready. After checking with the desk three more times, received keys well after 4:30p.
