“I requested breakfast but was told they didn’t do it anymore. The stairs were cramped with 2 turns and inadequate/absent rails. We did not meet any staff. There was a note saying how we could ring them. The hot and cold water at the wash basin were plumbed in the wrong way round. I did not see any indicator for which was hot or cold. It matters because this is where you fill the kettle. The bed was comfortable and the room was warm.”

The team at the hotel are friendly and welcoming and the restaurant is great too. “Check in could be improved. Arrived to a busy pub with customers waiting for service at the bar and no designated check in desk. Several staff just walked past us with our bags and no one acknowledged we were trying to check in for several minutes. The room was okay but not as shown on our booking confirmation - it was an attic room with very steep stairs and a not very safe landing area outside the door. The bathroom had been shoehorned in under a sloping ceiling - there was no shower, just……
