“You cannot reserve a carpark place but we had no problem getting one whenever we returned after a day out. Room was great and even had a fan supplied for this hot spell food menu was good and our meals were great. Perfect base for visiting local area and lovely town and river walks for evening strolls.”

“The host was very kind and helpful. The room was small for three people, and hot. It was right on the road so we had to keep the window closed all night. Perhaps an upstairs room would be more comfortable. The stay was certainly fine, but quite simple/basic.”

“Property was fine, the staff were really good and my room was clean. Breakfast was first class. Be aware that you have to park your car in the local car park, which is chargeable. ”

“This pub was a great find, lovely staff, great breakfast, parking easy and free. The history was amazing. The Gaskell tower is a must. We stayed in a heatwave , the room was warmer than expected, and we should have asked for a fan. The only slight problem, not the pubs fault, it is on the direct flight path for Manchester airport, they did stop flying between the hours of 11.30pm-6.00 am!!”

“We stayed in a beautiful hive which was nicely done and the hotel itself was beautiful. We were disappointed not to have a bath or to be able to use any the sauna facilities and that whole building seemed to be in the midst of renovation. We were also surprised that breakfast wasn’t included and that when we ordered English breakfasts we didn’t get any toast and when we asked for some were then charged £2.50 per slice. I feedback when we departed that I was not impressed but nothing was done……
