"Only the couple managing the property, doing all rooms and check in and dining. So be patient. Even they might not know much English they still provide great service and try to accommodate your needs. Nice restaurants and convenient store around though most close early. Walking distance to the Akakura Obsen Ski area."

"My wife and I enjoyed our 3-night stay at hotel Taiko. The hotel employees were extremely helpful and friendly. The hotel is only a short walk to the kumado ski base. The hotel pickup drop off service was great. We gave the hotel our train’s arrival time and the driver met us with a van when the train arrived! No waiting in the cold! "Akakura Onsen is a small town and everything is fairly close by but thanks to the hotel we enjoyed discounts to renting the ski equipment at the shop nearby. We also enjoyed private use of the onsen for half hour each day and the English-speaking hotel stuff was super friendly and helpful."
