Spent a week there and the staff was more than helpful with suggestions for restaurants, etc. Used their bikes to go riding two mornings, came back and went to the pool and ice water to drink was served to us immediately. Used the spa as we had an afternoon of rain and it was very restful with an indoor pool and hot tub.

Checked in took a long time. Had to find a room on first floor and by the pool for my daughter instead of resort view bc my husband is handicap and all resort view were taken. Once checked in and keys didn't work and staff in the area couldn't help had to wait in line again and to spend another 30 min finding another room. Finally get to room change to go swimming and pool in adult only. I call to move rooms and they are all booked. Very disappointing after a long day. Walked across the other side of the facility to swim and get something to eat.

"Huge and beautiful property. Stunning. "
Our room was a lot ng way from front desk. It just took a long time to walk from room to entrance. Other than that observation, we really enjoyed the facility. Tennis courts were in great shape. Grounds were manicured beautifully.

"Sandpiper Inn Desert Hot Springs"
I'll be honest we only stayed here because pretty much everything else was sold out or in the $300 a night range and we needed a refrigerator for an overnight stay. I read all the reviews on expedia and then the new management's responses to them and we decided to go ahead and take a chance. I'm glad we did. I think this place has a lot of potential even though it's not quite there yet, they're still in renovations. The pool and 5 hot tubs were awesome - sparkling clean, warm and relaxing. The room was really cute, it was freshly painted and had new flooring. There were some repairs that still needed to be made in the kitchen area but the refrigerator worked perfectly and everything was very clean. The hotel staff are very friendly and so were the other guests that we met. This hotel has the potential to be a diamond in the rough. If we are heading past this hotel I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

Riviera Palm Springs, Tribute Portfolio by Starwood Hotels

1600 N Indian Canyon Drive, Palm Springs 92262 - Map
We have stayed at the Riviera before and were disappointed. This stay however we stayed in the Starlight Suite and it was AMAZING. We came out to watch the Super Bowl and our room was so amazing that we had friends over and watched the game in our room. We had a fire pit on our huge patio, a living room complete with wet bar, big screen tv, couches, and fireplace, not to mention we had our own hot tub. As far as suites go in Palm Springs this one was pretty epic. The pool was not amazing. The waitresses seemed to hate their jobs and ours had the personality of a small soapdish. It took an hour to get an order of French Fries, and the rest of the food and cocktails were mediocre at best. My vodka lemonade tasted like cough syrup, and my friends mojito tasted like oranges when it was supposed to taste like berries. My only complaint about the room were the sheets, they were very itchy and I was not a fan of the pillows. We will definitely come back provided we stay in the same room.

Best and Worst Times to Visit Palm Springs

The summertime is the least popular time to visit this desert destination, unless you don’t mind sweltering temperatures in the triple digits. While the 100+ degrees F weather may deter some, if you do decide to visit during this time, stay somewhere with a pool and air conditioning.

The best time to visit Palm Springs is between January and May, when the days are warm and the nights are cool. Daytime temperatures are usually comfortable around the 70s and 80s F, which as a result, attract hordes of vacationers looking to escape winter weather. Post-summer season, from October to December, is another pleasant time to vacation here. Temperatures range from the high 60s to the low 90s F. Rates are also slightly cheaper during this time because it’s before the winter rush.

    Things to Do

Brave the heat and explore the great outdoors during your romp in Palm Springs. Embark on the Palm Canyon Trail to the Stone Palms in the Palm Springs Canyon. This hike boasts the juxtaposition of dry desert scenery and rushing waterfalls. For an easy stroll, check out the Tahquitz Canyon trail, and for more challenging terrain, hit the Skyline Train. During your stay, mosey through the Moorten Botanical Garden, and don’t miss the panoramic views from the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway.

If you’d prefer to avoid the desert temperatures, spend an afternoon exploring the indoor museums. Linger around the exhibits at the Palm Springs Art Museum and examine the WWII aircraft at the Palm Springs Air Museum. While you’re in town, catch a quirky production of The Fabulous Palm Springs Follies or treat yourself to some retail therapy at the Palm Springs Outlets. However you decide to spend your desert vacation, rest up at one of the top Palm Springs resorts in town.
