Beautiful, well-located home!
We had a fantastic time! The house is absolutely beautiful and conveniently located near the Shoals Club. It was impeccably clean and the beds were very comfortable. We hope to return next summer.

The house was excellent and in superb condition. Great layout, clean, comfortable beds, strong AC, near the beach, fast golf carts. The house had everything we needed and more, with thoughtful extras. The owner/manager was responsive and lovely. We will definitely try to stay here again.

Wonderful Stay, close to beach access and the Shoals Club
Well maintained property with ample room for the family. Short walk to the beach, Mike's Bites and Shoals Club. The owner was very responsive related to a golf membership issue at the Bald Head Club, which was cleared up with a single message. New washer and dryer and all the convenience of being home.

Post-Graduation Family Celebration
This was our second stay at Kokomo, and we were so impressed. We thought it impossible to improve upon our earlier visit, but Karen and her team managed to do it. We noticed all the little improvements and the obvious care and attention they paid to the house. This is a comfortable, well appointed, well laid out house in the best area on the island. Everything works well, Karen anticipates everything and ensures the stay is special. 50 gold stars. We'll be back for sure.

Property was wonderful! Convenient to the beach. Great open concept house that was we’ll appointed. Perfect vacation property for a larger group. Only drawback was the beds…too soft for my liking but would still highly recommend!

We had an amazing stay, the house is outfitted with anything you could possibly need and Karen was available for all the questions we had during our stay. Only thing to note is that the wifi on the main floor is quite weak; we were able to work great from the 3rd floor office but if you have multiple people needing wifi for work purposes, it could challenging. Overall amazing 2 weeks!!

This house was exactly as pictured. It was clean and perfectly maintained. The location was ideal for us since we like East Beach, Shoals and the Turtle Museum. The owner was friendly and easy to work with. It was very well furnished with all the amenities we could possibly need. We are hopeful that we will have an opportunity to stay there again!!

We’ve been to BHI for many years and our visit to Kokomo Cottage was our favorite. The house is fully outfitted and functional for a large family, it’s in a perfect East Beach location, and the hosts are fantastic. I highly recommend it.

Beautiful well-cared for house
The house is as described, in a wonderful condition and with lovely amenities, and it is very comfortable. Definitely make note of any missing/broken etc. items that you notice upon check in. One pillow was missing a pillow case in our room, but we barely noticed because there were plenty of other pillows to use so we didn't report it. We were contacted after our stay about the missing pillow case...so due your due diligence! Also, if you plan to get a membership to the Shoals Club during your stay, you should check the status of the beach. We were disappointed that the beach had eroded off (the sand literally broke off and washed away) during tropical storm Claudette and so we didn't have any beach access there. We could visit other beaches, but without chairs or umbrellas, and we'd already paid for our membership. Finally, the local businesses are part of the resort and don't really care about you. We damaged a golf cart and were completely expecting to pay for the damage, but were charged extra for things that had nothing to do with our minor bump, including replacement of parts that were not actually replaced (tie rods). We were refunded for those, fortunately. The folks that fixed the golf cart knew it was not damaged by the owner and that they would not have to speak to us directly, they could just pass on the costs, which was extremely frustrating because they took advantage of the situation. This could be a problem in many places and hopefully will not happen to most guests. Otherwise, it is a lovely island and the owner will go out of her way to make your stay comfortable.

Amazing property near the Shoals
We had a fantastic experience with this rental. We had a family of four (kids 3 and 5) plus two grandparents, and so valued the ground floor bedroom for them. The property was spotless and well outfitted, and Karen was flexible about letting us take a golf cart since we arrived early. It’s close to the Shoals Club, the beach and the shoals, and Mike’s Bites, all of which were favorites with adults and kids alike. We even had a couple of cousins who were staying in a nearby rental house come over one night for a sleepover in the bunk room, which was very exciting for everyone. Would absolutely come back again or visit another property managed by Karen and her team.

A Perfect Week
Kokomo Cottage is a gorgeous, well kept home, perfectly located, comfortable, and well laid out. Karen and her family were excellent to work with. They were proactive, they minded the small things as well as the big, and they could not have been easier to work with. Wonderful house in great location
We had a great stay at Kokomo on BHI in early April! Weather was great (chilly some days) and the house was perfect. Fully stocked kitchen, big fridge, huge washer/dryer, comfortable beds and nice living space inside and out. Location is great - seconds from Turtle Conservation center and Mike’s Bites, minutes walk or golf cart ride to beach and Shoals Club. Owner was delightful to work with. Would definitely come back any time of year!

Cape Fear Station Stay November 2020
The house is as described and the pictures show the house just as it is in person. It is nicely finished and everything was clean and working properly. It is a very good/convenient location. Karen is a fantastic hostess and went out of her way to make sure we had everything we needed.
