The museum’s chosen artists cover many genres, from country and blues to jazz and R&B. About 60 musical acts are represented currently. They are selected by a nominating committee of illustrious people in the music business.
Stop at the listening stations to hear select pieces of each artist’s music and understand what made each of them so special. Audio tours provide extra context and information about the hall of famers. The music-themed décor of the complex features hanging guitars and a piano light fixture.
The museum’s gift shop contains a great range of merchandise, including clothing, posters and cups. Purchase a souvenir by which to remember your museum visit. The hall of fame aspect was established in 2012, before the museum was set up in 2015.
The museum opens Wednesday through Sunday from morning until evening. Purchase tickets for admission and ask for discounts for youths.
The Memphis Music Hall of Fame is in the heart of the Downtown Memphis zone, a little inland from the Mississippi River. Arrive at a nearby bus stop or walk north from the Memphis Tennessee Central railway station for about 15 minutes to get here. While you’re in the city center, stop at nearby attractions such as the Clayborn Temple, the National Civil Rights Museum and Tom Lee Park.
